Department College of Arts and Sciences Status Full-Time Time Period 40 hours/12 months Available July 1, 2026 Description Communication/Media faculty position to teach undergraduate courses, in digital media and cinema and/or graphic design and other communication related courses. The faculty member will serve as program director for CIU's thriving communication programs including digital media & cinema, graphic design and strategic communication; providing visionary leadership in growing the programs and enhancing academic excellence. The faculty member will advise communication and media majors and collaborate with other faculty in administering goals, program development, and program activities. Teaching load is 24 semester hours annually. Faculty must be able to advance the evangelical Christian mission of the institution. Responsibilities Teach up to 24 semester hours per year across the field of communication including courses in digital media and cinematography and/or graphic design Advise students in communication programs as needed fostering excellence and spiritual growth Interact with prospective students as needed Endorse and model professional standards and proficiencies Serve on committees as assigned within the university Assist regularly with assessment of CIU's communication curriculum Participate in faculty meetings at the college and university level; attend other appropriate events including chapel, conferences, and student events Yearly affirm the institution's mission, doctrinal position, community standards, and CIU's position on human origins ( Faculty Guide ) Qualifications Experience teaching college communication related courses Ability to teach effectively at the college level Ability to supervise undergraduate projects preferred Competency in utilizing learning management tools and classroom technology Competent in or able to learn and facilitate online education Ability to use technology effectively in teaching as appropriate An understanding of the needs and trends associated with traditional college age students Commitment to CIU's mission and vision Commitment to live within the standards of the CIU community Minimum master's degree in a communication related discipline from an accredited university Earned doctorate (PhD or EdD) is preferred Benefits CIU provides a benefits package that includes: Health Plan; 401(k) plan with match opportunity; Employer provided group life insurance; Long term disability insurance; Vacation days, holidays, sick leave, family leave; Educational benefits: tuition reduction for PreK3-Graduate.
