Job Description

Lecturer/Senior Lecturer of Computer Science

Department of Computer Science Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey, CA The Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) is accepting applications for a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in the Department of Computer Science (non-tenure term, full-time seasonal). We are especially interested in candidates with recent strong CS teaching experience in one or more of these areas: AI, data science, cybersecurity, cyber operations, and networking. Experience with student mentoring or research publication is desirable. NPS is located close to the technology hubs of the San Francisco Bay Area and are very well connected in the US Navy and U.S. defense agencies. Our students consist primarily of U.S. and international military officers seeking master's or PhD degrees, U.S. civilians entering the Cyber Corps who already have bachelor's degrees. We primarily seek applicants with recent (past 5 years) teaching experience across one or more of the topic areas mentioned above; Applicants with recent (past 5 years) in-depth experience across one or more of the topic areas mentioned above and a track record of academic publication, are also considered. We seek to fill the positions as soon as possible and will begin reviewing applications on a rolling basis on June 15, 2026. In your application package, include your CV, names of three references and a teaching statement that details your teaching interests and experience. Discuss in the cover letter why you are interested in this position. The appointment will be made at the Lecturer or Senior Lecturer level, depending upon the candidate's experience.
Minimum Qualification Requirements:
All levels: Must have a graduate degree in computer science, or a related Must currently hold or be eligible for a U.S. Secret clearance. AD-03: Evidence of teaching aptitude. AD-05: Broad experience (typically 6 years) as a faculty member in accredited institution of higher education; evidence of excellent teaching; and a reputation for expertise in the discipline in the DoD.
