POSITION OVERVIEW
Position title: Computer Science Engineering Pre-six Lecturer
Salary range: A reasonable estimate for an appointment to teach a standard five-credit course is $9,986-$20,908 (based on salary points 5-30). Compensation for Summer Session courses may vary from courses taught during the academic year.
Percent time: Variable, based on the course load assigned.
Anticipated start: Appointments are contingent on the hiring unit's instructional need and the availability of funding. This recruitment is valid for initial appointments made in fall quarter 2026 through fall quarter 2027. Initial appointments with effective dates outside of this recruitment period will require an alternative open recruitment.
Position duration: Appointments are typically made during one or more quarters of the regular academic year (fall, winter, and spring quarters), but they may also be made during Summer Session.

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC) invites applications for an ongoing pool of lecturers who may be appointed to teach Computer Science and Engineering courses. Course topics include, but are not limited to, all areas of computer science and engineering: algorithms, analysis of algorithms, animation & visualization, architecture, artificial intelligence, assistive technology, computer literacy, computer programming, computer system design, database systems, data structures, digital design, embedded systems, graphics, machine learning, mobile and cloud computing, networks, programming languages security, sensor technology, software engineering, knowledge management, information retrieval (or data mining), information technology systems design, operations research, entrepreneurship, services engineering, and product development. Outstanding candidates with experience to teach courses in one or more of the above areas are encouraged to apply. The campus is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the inclusive excellence of the academic community through their teaching and other assigned duties. Appointments are temporary positions with end dates and generally made one quarter at a time, based on the changing curricular needs of the department. Internal candidates will be given priority consideration.

Basic qualifications (required at the time the application is submitted)
M.B.A. or an M.S. degree (or equivalent foreign degree) in computer engineering, computer science, economics, electrical engineering, industrial and systems engineering, management, operations research, statistics, or closely related or relevant field.
Teaching experience demonstrated by college level teaching experience, TA experience, research presentations, and/or professional development training seminars.
