Job Description:
GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES
Cape Cod Community College is mindful that it is not only what we teach, but also how we teach, that is important for student success. The College values evidence-based teaching that fosters retention of students and development of students' career goals. Instructors create an inclusive learning environment and teach in a manner that promotes equity of opportunity and achievement that is in keeping with the student-ready values and goals of the College. The Department of Engineering Sciences and Applied Technology is seeking a full-time faculty member to teach a range of Computer Science courses. This includes preparing and presenting lectures, leading and facilitating classroom discussions, and evaluating and grading student performance while maintaining a focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion in pursuing equitable student outcomes. The faculty member will also be responsible for advising students on academic matters, such as course selection and career paths. This is a tenure-track position to be filled for the Fall 2026 semester. In addition to teaching responsibilities, the faculty member will be expected to contribute to the broader academic community. This may include serving on college committees, supporting grant related activities, and participating in community outreach. The ideal candidate will have a passion for teaching, a deep understanding of Computer Science, and the ability to inspire and engage students.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
Teach the equivalent of five sections each semester from the Department's offerings, which include Python, Java, C++, Procedural Programming, Data Structures, Computer Organization and Architecture, and introductory AI/ML concepts such as machine learning fundamentals, applied AI tools, and ethical AI literacy to a diverse student population. Serve as academic advisor to approximately 18 students, including guidance on emerging AI competencies relevant to transfer pathways and workforce needs. Hold a minimum of four office hours per week. Serve on Department and College Committees. Participate actively in the department's assessment and evaluation, development, and implementation of curriculum, including the integration of AI-enhanced learning tools, responsible AI practices, new course development, and updates to ensure program relevance in an AI-driven computing landscape. Engage in ongoing professional development related to artificial intelligence, data science, and emerging technologies.
Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
: Unrestricted authorization to work in the United States. Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field from an accredited institution. Demonstrated ability to teach computer science using active-learning, student-centered instructional strategies. Demonstrated familiarity with foundational artificial intelligence concepts and the ability to integrate AI literacy into computer science coursework, including the use of AI-supported instructional tools. Experience developing or teaching AI-related curriculum?such as machine learning, data analytics, AI ethics, or applied AI tools?and using AI-enhanced educational technologies, coding assistants, or data-driven tools to support student learning. Knowledge of curriculum and program development, outcomes assessment, and maintaining a learner-centered instructional environment. Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative approach to working with students and colleagues. Ability to teach a broad curriculum and support a student body with diverse abilities, interests, and backgrounds and familiarity with ADA digital accessibility requirements for instructional materials. Ability to thrive in a dynamic teaching and learning community that values flexibility, adaptability, and teamwork.
ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of computer science and information technology applications and practices. Non-academic work experience in a computer science or software development capacity. Experience with the integration of technology and alternative delivery systems of instruction in the teaching-learning process. Experience, appreciation and commitment to working in an equitable, multicultural academic setting. Graduate coursework, certifications, or industry experience in artificial intelligence, machine learning, data science, or related fields. Demonstrated ability to mentor students on AI-related projects, capstones, or undergraduate research. Additional Information:
COMPENSATION
: Full-time, tenure-track, MCCC Unit position with an anticipated Annual Salary Range of $75,965 - $84,951. Actual salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience, determined by a formula-based classification system, consistent with the
MCCC/MTA
Collective Bargaining Agreement. Includes participation in a comprehensive employee benefits program including option for membership in the Massachusetts State Employees' Retirement System.
