ADJUNCT INSTRUCTOR OF COMPUTER SCIENCE
The Division of Science, Technology, and Mathematics in the College of Arts and Sciences at Southern Wesleyan University invites applications for the position of part-time instructor of computer science. The division seeks instructors capable of teaching a range of introductory and upper-level classes, including Introduction to Computers, Hardware and Software Configuration and Support, and Networking II. This position begins in August 2025 with the potential for subsequent employment as a full-time faculty member. Compensation is commensurate with experience and credentials. Founded in 1906 and located in Central, South Carolina, Southern Wesleyan University spans 350 acres and is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges. With a student body of just under 1200 students, SWU is a diverse community with a 12:1 student-to-faculty ratio. The Division of Science, Technology, and Mathematics offers a B.A. degree in chemistry and B.S. degrees in biochemistry, biology, computer information systems, environmental science, exercise science, forensic science, mathematics, and various pre-professional fields (pre-dentistry, pre-medicine, pre-pharmacy, and pre-veterinary science). The ideal candidate will have:
A master's degree or higher in computer science, cybersecurity, or a related field; those with extensive professional experience and appropriate certificates will also be considered. A mature faith in Jesus Christ. A commitment to the Christian liberal arts tradition and the mission of the university. A desire to integrate Christian faith and learning in the classroom. Demonstrated excellence in undergraduate teaching. A willingness to teach courses in face-to-face and/or online modalities.
