POSITION OVERVIEW
Founded in 1862, LeMoyne-Owen College is a private, historically black,liberal artsinstitution that helps students discover and utilize their fullrange of capacity in their career and social life. LeMoyne-Owen College istheonly Historical Black College and University (HBCU) in the city of Memphis. DCS is the newest and most rapidly growing divisionat LOC. Among theearliest computing programs in Tennessee, BS in Computer Science (BSCS) wasrecently accredited by
ABET. DCS
offers threebachelor's degrees, BS inComputer Science (BSCS), BS in Cybersecurity, and BS in Information Technology(IT). Since 2019, BS inCybersecurity atLOC has been the only HBCU based Center ofAcademic Excellence in Cyber Defense (CAE-CD) designated by NSA in the state ofTennessee. Division of Computer Science (DCS) at LeMoyne-Owen College (LOC) invitesapplications for a full-time, tenure track, openrank faculty position. Thesuccessful candidate will be responsible for teaching a standard load duringthe Fall and Spring semesters,conducting scholarly activities, advisingstudents, and engaging in services at the division and institution.
DUTIESANDRESPONSIBILITIES
Teach standard load per semester inundergraduate computer science courses, which may include programming, datastructures, algorithms, databases, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence,operating systems, networking, and/or other areas ofspecialization. Develop and revise curriculum,syllabi, and other instructional materials in accordance with accreditation andindustrystandards. Maintain high-impact,student-centered teaching practices, incorporating current technologies andinclusive pedagogy. Advise andmentor DCS students,including computer science, cybersecurity, and information technology majors,in both academic progress andcareerpreparation. Engage in assessment of studentlearning outcomes and support the maintenance and securing of accreditations,e.g.,ABET, NSACAE designation. Engage in scholarly activities,including research, publications, presentations, and external fundingsolicitation, patent,commercial development. Provide service to the division,college, and community, including participation incommittees, recruitmentevents,and student organizations. Maintain regular office hours and beavailable to students outside of classas needed. Remain current in thedisciplinethrough professional development and industry engagement.
MINIMUMQUALIFICATIONS
Ph. D. in ComputerScience, Data Science,Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or closely related field. Expertise in atleast three areas in followinglist.

The coverage of more areas is preferred. Artificial intelligence Machine learning Robotics Autonomous vehicles and/or UAV Data analytics and visualization Big data Parallel and high-performancecomputing Cloud computing Distributed and mobile computing Internet of Things Operating systems Cyber-physical systems and/or embedded system Computation theory Demonstratedexcellence in teaching at thecollege or university level. Demonstrated active research,proven by publication, external funding, andpresentations.
PreferredQualifications:
Industry experience incomputing or other IT fields. Experience inteachingnon-traditional and underrepresentedstudent populations.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICIAL DEMANDS
Whileperforming the duties of this job, the employee isregularlyrequired to sit, stand, use hands to handle, or feel to talk and to hear. Theemployee, frequently, is required to walk, reachwith hands and arms to stoop,kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/ormove up to 20 lbs.
