The Department of Information Science Technology (IST) in the Cullen College of Engineering (CCE) at the University of Houston (UH) invites applications for a tenure-track Associate Professor position in the Computer Information Systems program to begin in Fall 2027. We seek a colleague who will contribute to the continued success and growth of our program. The successful candidate must demonstrate an outstanding scholarly record, evidenced by high-impact peer-reviewed publications in leading journals and conference proceedings, and a forward-looking research agenda with the potential to secure competitive external funding. We are particularly interested in candidates whose research focuses on Cybersecurity, Quantum Computing, Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML), or the intersection of these areas, and whose work complements existing faculty strengths, fosters interdisciplinary collaboration, and advances the mission of the Computer Information Systems program. To be considered for this position, candidates must hold a doctoral degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a closely related Technology/Engineering field. Furthermore, candidates are expected to have substantial teaching experience in both face-to-face and online formats at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Successful applicants will demonstrate commitment to innovative instructional strategies, continuous professional development, and the ability to adapt curriculum design and delivery to meet evolving industry demands. The Department of Information Science Technology (IST), located at the Sugar Land campus, is a dynamic unit within the Cullen College of Engineering. IST offers innovative degree programs in Computer Information Systems, Cybersecurity, Digital Media, and Technology Leadership and Innovation Management. Our location provides extensive opportunities for industry collaboration, including partnerships with the Texas Medical Center, Energy sector, and NASA Johnson Space Center. Our new state-of-the-art building at the Sugar Land campus houses a National Security Agency Center for Information Security Research and Education and a Department of Transportation Tier 1 Cyber-CARE Center focused on Cybersecurity Research. Our Department also houses several research labs focused on Applied Data Science, Smart Security Systems, Augmented/Virtual Reality, User Experience, offering the successful candidate the opportunity to shape these facilities.
