Faculty Position in Computer Engineering

The Dhanani School of Science and Engineering ( DSSE) at Habib University i nvites applications for open rank faculty positions in its Computer Engineering program . Depending on thecredentials, candidates will be considered at Assistant Professor or Associate Professor ranks as appropriate. The program seekstalented faculty who are passionate about teaching and learning, and who are excited about the challenge of reimagining the teaching ofComputer Engineering at the undergraduate level in line with global developments in the field. Habib University seeks outstanding studentmentors who will be involved in the lives of students through mentoring, student support, enrolment initiatives, and other activitiesrelated to the undergraduate education experience. Fall appointments begin August 1st and Spring appointments begin January1st.

Qualifications:

Candidates must have completed or must be in the final stages of a doctoral degree in the relevant fieldfrom a leading global institution recognized for its strength in this field. An ideal candidate will possess excellent teaching andscholarly skills, will be able to work with a diverse population of students and colleagues, will enjoy influencing the intellectual growthof their students, will be effective in institutional service, will be passionate about undergraduate research, and will be excited to workwith colleagues across disciplines. Experience studying in and/or working in a liberal arts environment will be an advantage. Area ofexpertise is open, but the candidate should be prepared to teach a broad range of computer engineering courses, e.g., Data Science, SoftwareEngineering & Development, Digital Systems Design, Embedded Systems, IoT and Cloud Computing, Testing and Verification, Distributed Systems,Web and Mobile Development, Human Computer Interaction, Networks and Security, and Robotics, etc.

Responsibilities:

Primaryresponsibilities include teaching undergraduate courses, active engagement in institutional service, professional activities, studentmentorship, curriculum planning, and review. The annual teaching load is 5 three- or four-credit courses. This position will play a criticalrole in supporting the computer engineering majors at the University. Once onboard, faculty should also anticipate supporting theHabib Liberal Core, a core component of our Liberal Arts education containing four foundational divisions - Humanities; Natural Sciences,Mathematics, and Computing; Social Sciences; and Language, Expression, and Design. As part of this commitment to a student-centric,interdisciplinary curriculum, faculty members in computer engineering are expected to contribute to the teaching and delivery of HLC courseswithin the Division of Mathematics and Computing, working collaboratively with colleagues to ensure curricular coherence, academic rigor,and an equitable learning experience for all students.
