The Dhanani School of Science and Engineering (DSSE) at Habib University invites applications for open-rank faculty positions in its Computer Science program. Depending on the credentials,candidates will be considered at Assistant Professor or Associate Professor ranks as appropriate. The program seeks talented faculty who arepassionate about teaching and student learning, and who are excited about the challenge of reimagining the teaching of Computer Science atthe undergraduate level in line with global developments in the field. Habib University seeks outstanding student mentors who will beinvolved in the lives of students through mentoring, student support, enrolment initiatives, and other activities related to theundergraduate education experience. Fall appointments begin August 1st and Spring appointments begin January 1st.

Qualifications:

Candidates must have completed or must be in the final stages of a doctoral degree in the relevant field from aleading global institution recognized for its strength in this field. The ideal candidate will possess excellent teaching and scholarlyskills, will be able to work with a diverse population of students and colleagues, will enjoy influencing the intellectual growth of theirstudents, will be effective in institutional service, will be passionate about undergraduate research, and is excited to work withcolleagues across disciplines. Experience of studying in and/or working in a liberal arts environment will be an advantage. The area ofexpertise is open, but the candidate should be prepared to teach a broad range of computer science courses including introduction tocomputer science, software programming, database management, computer networking, technology management, etc. Industry practitioners whowant to return to academia are also encouraged to apply as Professors of Practice.

Responsibilities:

Primary responsibilitiesinclude: teaching undergraduate courses, active engagement in institutional service, professional activities, student mentorship, curriculumplanning, and review. The annual teaching load is 5 three- or four-credit courses. This position will play a critical role in supportingboth the computer science and the computer engineering majors at the University. Once onboard, faculty should also anticipatesupporting the Habib Liberal Core (HLC), a core component of our Liberal Arts education containing four foundational divisions - Humanities;Natural Sciences, Mathematics, and Computing; Social Sciences; and Language, Expression, and Design. As part of this commitment to astudent-centric, interdisciplinary curriculum. Faculty members in Computer Science are expected to contribute to the teaching and deliveryof HLC courses within division of Natural Sciences, Mathematics, and Computing, working collaboratively with colleagues to ensure curricularcoherence, academic rigor, and an equitable learning experience for all students.
