A Criminal Justice Professor teaches foundational criminal justice ideas, truths, and methods to students through a combination of classroom instruction, field experience, and assignments at colleges, trade schools or other institutes. May assist or lead in the creation of the criminal justice curriculum to be taught. In addition to instruction, they may assist or lead in research initiatives relating to their field.
The University of St. Thomas Criminal Justice Program within the Department of Justice & Society Studies invites applications for adjunct faculty members to teach one or more Criminal Justice courses. Adjunct appointments are without tenure and are not tenure-track appointments. This posting is for a pooled, adjunct faculty position for continuous recruitment. Review of candidates is typically done on an annual basis during the month of January. This position is campus-based and requires the ability to deliver classroom instruction in person. The salary range for the College of Arts and Sciences Adjunct positions ranges from $5,994 to $6,717 (per 4 credit undergraduate course, 3 credit graduate course). Rate of pay is determined by academic credential and years of teaching experience. We welcome candidates who could teach one or more of the following courses: Introduction to Criminal Justice, Crime & Delinquency, Police Operations, Criminal Law & Procedure, and Critical Issues in Corrections. Teaching load generally includes one course per semester, with a preference for in-person instruction, depending upon department needs and enrollments. Most classes are held during daytime hours with courses occasionally offered in the evening. We seek candidates interested in facilitating meaningful experiences between students and faculty that empower undergraduate students to find success and to solve challenging problems in service of the common good. QUALIFICATIONS
Qualifications The required minimum qualifications for Criminal Justice courses include a master's degree in Criminal Justice or a discipline related to the teaching specialty, or a J.D. with experience in criminal law.
