This position will perform professional-level technical and analytical work in the computer labs pertaining to its daily operations and its related functions. This position will also serve as a subject matter expert for the installation and maintenance of virtualized and physical lab software, hardware, and applications for use in the college setting. To best serve the students, department, and college, this position is fully in-person. Essential Functions 25%
  • Technology Lab Systems & Support Configures, deploys, and maintains computer lab systems, including desktop imaging, account management, software installation, and troubleshooting.
Supports virtualized lab environments across servers and workstations. Performs routine maintenance such as system backups, updates, and virus/malware remediation. Collaborates with campus IT on security, performance, and infrastructure issues. 20%
  • Lab Operations & Project Coordination Coordinates setup, maintenance, and ongoing operation of instructional computer labs/classrooms. Maintains equipment inventory and supplies. Leads or supports small project teams related to lab deployments and upgrades. Develops and implements standard operating procedures for lab use and support. 20%
  • Instructional Technology Support Assists faculty with lab setup for courses and instructional activities. Provides technical support to faculty and students during lab use. Participates in planning and implementing lab configurations aligned with instructional needs, including budgeting input and basic resource planning. 20%
  • Documentation, Compliance & Reporting Maintains documentation for lab systems, configurations, procedures, and equipment. Supports compliance with district policies and technology standards. Assists with reports, program materials, and updates to division or lab-related web content. 15%
  • Training, Collaboration & Service Provides training and guidance to faculty, staff, and students on lab systems and software.
Serves as a liaison to campus committees or initiatives as assigned. Supports student use of lab environments and performs other duties as assigned, commensurate to the grade level of the position. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in a technology field, education, organizational development, or directly related field and two (2) years of full-time equivalent related experience, such as providing advanced program coordination and consultation that includes one or more of the following: planning, development, and/or implementing program projects and activities in the area of assignment. OR Associate's Degree in a technology field, education, organizational development, or directly related field and four (4) years of full-time equivalent related experience, such as providing advanced program coordination and consultation that includes one or more of the following: planning, development, and/or implementing program projects and activities in the area of assignment. An equivalent combination of the conferred degree and directly related full-time work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered. Desired Qualifications A. Master's degree or higher with coursework emphasizing Information Technology or a related field OR five (5) years of industry experience in an IT position related to the essential duties of the job. B. Experience working in an education lab setting C. Experience configuring and supporting desktop and server hardware, operating systems and applications D. Experience with virtualization and support of virtualized environments E. IT industry certifications such as VMWare, MCSA, CCNA F. Experience with the NetLab virtualized learning environment G. One year of full-time, relevant MCCCD experience within the previous two years.
