POSITION OBJECTIVE
This is the highest level within the series. Incumbents tutor students in a variety of subjects and skills.
Duties include:
creating educational plans; documenting and monitoring student progress; meeting with parents, students, and other resource providers; and preparing lesson plans under direction of a certified teacher.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
(These duties are a representative sample; position assignments may vary.) Participate in activities related to the recruitment of potential students. Assist the TSW team by gathering student documents necessary for determining VR eligibility of student applicants. Assist students in acquiring necessary mobility/transportation to keep appointments. Under the supervision of the Teacher/Coordinator-TSW implement a system for disseminating TSW information to potential employers. Analyze work sites and match TSW students with those that are deemed appropriate by the Teacher/Coordinator-TSW and VR counselor. Maintain and update a system for tracking employers that have ever been active with the TSW. Provide structured training at community job sites consistent with each student's targeted vocational goals. Provide follow-up support to students. Collect data as necessary to document students' progress on the job. Maintain an accurate case file for each TSW student. Participate in all team meetings. Gather and organize information that is useful for transition planning. When appropriate, attend transition planning meetings with eligible students. Provide support to TSW students as deemed necessary by the team. Assist with teaching the TSW curriculum as directed by the TSW teacher. Provide one-to-one assistance to students in the delivery of instructionl for vocational, independent living and personal/social content areas. Attend all training seminars offered by VR and/or ADE regarding TSW procedures and practices. Maintain a log of all activities and time spent on the TSW. Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
(positions in this class typically require): Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree, depending on assignment and one year of instructional or substitute teaching experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

Licensing Requirements:
  • Substitute certification is preferred. Some positions may require:
  • State of Arizona Board of Occupational Therapy Examiners Licensure;
  • National Certification in Occupational Therapy;
  • First Aid and CPR Certifications;
  • Training in Basic Life Support Certification;
  • Heimlich Certification.
KNOWLEDGE

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Positions in this class typically require: stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.
Medium Work:
Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Incumbents may be subjected to odors, extreme temperatures, and intense noises.
NOTE:

Return To Work Retirees will have an hourly rate approximately 9% lower than listed below without falling below minimum wage.
