Job Description

JOB Under general supervision from the Curriculum and Instruction Director, the Instructional Coach promotes instruction and student learning by supporting teachers in the effective planning of lessons, interventions, enrichment and effective instructional strategies that allow all students to reach high standards. In addition, the Instructional Coach will 1) mentor and coach teachers to meet the needs of their students in their classes with respect to academics; and 2) ensure the fidelity of programs and providing general guidance to teachers, staff and administrators as they select, implement and teach curriculum across grade levels. The Instructional Coach will also interpret data generated from multiple sources including but not limited to State and District level assessments.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Planning and Program Design Provides general academic expertise leadership in the school setting. Coordinates, develops and monitors school wide intervention programs and schedules. Assists in the evaluation of on-going programs and making recommendations for change as they relate to instruction and academics. Assists in the effective implementation of the school wide RTI approach. Collaborates with teachers, media specialist, and the Division Curriculum and Instruction Department to support instruction and assessment. Assists all staff in finding supplemental material for varied levels of instruction. Maintains academic systems for users by creating, monitoring and modifying user and student information. Assists the Division Curriculum and Instruction Department to ensure curriculum, instruction and assessment alignment. Serves as a resource to administration in the area of instruction and curriculum. Assessment Implements and monitors identification, diagnosis and development of remedial/intervention instruction. Schedules, oversees and conducts assessments and progress monitoring to determine student academic levels and maintain records of student progress. Collaborates and coaches teachers on the use of formative assessment data to plan instruction, analyze data, and determine the needs of students. Assists teachers and staff in diagnosing a student's strengths and weaknesses and matches these skills with appropriate techniques and materials. Supports District Quarterly Benchmarks and all related assessments. Incorporates technology to monitor student performance. Works with the Division Curriculum and Instruction Department in maintaining data on student achievement in academic areas. Coaching/Mentoring Supports school administration, support staff and faculty to facilitate the coordination of academic programs within the whole curriculum. Supports classroom teachers by providing additional materials, resources, instructional strategies, enrichment ideas, teaching methodologies and current research in all literacy areas. Conducts scheduled, routine classroom observations for the purpose of gathering information on academic programs and curriculum, teaching strategies, coaching opportunities, etc. Fills in for teachers to allow for peer to peer observations Conducts walk-throughs in classrooms and meets with teachers regularly to provide feedback Supports ongoing professional development of staff through observation, feedback, monitoring, and resources Models exemplar teaching practices on a regular basis Integrates technology. Professional Development Provides for his or her own professional growth by attending demonstrations, in-service courses, workshops, seminars, conferences, webinars, etc. as required and/or approved. Collaborates with the Division Curriculum and Instruction Department to plan, deliver and develop professional development opportunities that meet the needs of individual or smalls groups of teachers. Other Communicates the purposes and progress of the academic programs to all stakeholders Vertical articulation with Salt River High School in collaboration with Division Curriculum and Instruction staff and other Instructional Coaches Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit

History, culture, traditions, and customs of the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community Arizona State Academic Standards for grade levels/subject area assigned Curriculum and instruction methods appropriate for specialized area Current research and strategies for continuously updating professional knowledge Skill in: Classroom management Teaching reading, writing, and critical thinking as a process Oral and written communication skills and strong interpersonal skills Analyzing/evaluating data and compiling reports Use of technology, including Smart Board/Promethean Board, a computer, MS Office Suite, the internet, copier, fax machine, calculator, etc Working with youth who are reluctant learners Communicating verbally and in writing with administrators, colleagues, administrators and parents Instructing and maintaining emotional control under stress Developing course goals and handling multiple priorities in an efficient manner Promoting critical thinking and engage learning Lifting 15 pounds of materials on an occasional basis
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Terms of Employment:
This position is treated as a full-time exempt position scheduled for 40 hours per week. Must be able to pass a Pre-Employment Drug Test and extensive Fingerprint and Background Check. Employee is Subject to Random Drug Testing and completion of a Background Check every five (5) years.
