Educational Services Specialist CSU Fullerton Auxiliary Services Corporation ("ASC") - 3.6 Fullerton, CA Job Details Part-time $21.00 - $23.50 an hour 1 day ago Qualifications Working with students from diverse cultural backgrounds Productivity software Full Job Description JOB Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs (GEAR UP) strives to increase the number of students who enter and succeed in postsecondary education.

Under the supervision of an assigned GEAR UP Coordinator, the Educational Services Specialist will be assigned a caseload of participants. The primary role of the GEAR UP Educational Services Specialist is to collaborate with GEAR UP Staff and personnel of our partner institutions to assist assigned caseloads in striving for postsecondary education opportunities through the implementation of comprehensive services and activities detailed in grant objectives. Target assignment(s) and work location are subject to change based on program needs, per the discretion of the GEAR UP Director. Based on program needs, this position may require working out of various locations, including the CSUF campus, GEAR UP partner schools, or other locations. •Please be aware that funding for this position is awarded through a Grant/Contract over a specified period. Employment for this position beyond current Grant/Contract funding is contingent upon continued funding or new Grant/Contract.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Facilitate conversations as a guide and coach to assist students in preparing for postsecondary education plansEnsure high-quality delivery of support services for participantsUtilize systems to ensure accurate and reliable tracking of all support servicesAccurately track the documentation of assigned caseloadAnalyze and keep track of academic performance, participation in GEAR UP services, and low engagementIndependently research innovative and engaging activities to incorporate into services that will increase participant engagement.

Provide leadership in the planning and implementation of programs and activities for assigned caseloads that include; workshops, field trips, and events. Perform outreach services such as tabling, phone calls, emails, presentations, etc., that will increase participants engagement Perform general clerical responsibilities including but not limited to accurate record keeping, filing, and data entry of sensitive informationBuild rapport with school site personnel, partners, and participants Implement structured small group and one-on-one tutoring sessions for student caseload in various subjects (e.g., Mathematics, Science, History, and/or English)Integrate effective study and learning strategies to maximize the student's potential for academic progressProvide leadership in the creation of content and curriculum Maintain ongoing communication with directors and coordinator regarding the status, challenges, opportunities, and potential referrals of participants on assigned caseload to other appropriate resourcesAttend staff meetings and staff development sessionsAbility to work a minimum of 15 hours per week, mainly between the business hours of 7:30am-4:30pm Monday through FridayOther duties as assigned
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Ability to commit to a full school-year positionAt least one year of previous volunteer or work experience with GEAR UP or other educational organization(s)Demonstrated ability to provide leadership, work independently, and take initiativeAbility to work with minimum supervision, both independently and with othersAbility to work effectively with various members of professional academic communities Ability to clearly relay informationPossess excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skillsBe sensitive to participants of diverse ethnic, racial, and economic backgroundsDemonstrate sound decision-making skillsDemonstrate ability to react flexibly to new situationsProficiency in using Microsoft Office and Google applicationsStrong organizational skills, attention to detail, and effective time management skillsHave reliable transportation to/ from assigned school site(s) and CSUFSuccessfully clear fingerprinting and background check process
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bilingual skills (written and verbal) in English and Spanish, or VietnameseMinimum two or more years of previous volunteer or work experience with GEAR UP or other educational organization(s)Current enrollment in a postsecondary educational programAbility to pass content-specific assessment(s) to tutor students inIntegrated mathematics (Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, Statistics & Probability, and/or Calculus)Science (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and/or Human Anatomy)English (Language and Literature) Other subjects, as determined by program needs
EDUCATION
Minimum Associate's Degree or a combination of education and training including graduation from high school or equivalent and training or coursework in a related field and at least one year of related experience
