Job Description

Required Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Education, or a related field (or equivalent experience). Preferred Education
  • Master's degree in Instructional Design, Education, Learning & Development, or a related field. Required Skills
  • Minimum 5 years of instructional design experience.
  • Task analysis and front-end analysis (FEA).
  • Design, development, and maintenance of blended learning solutions.
  • Instructor-Led Training (ILT) development and facilitation.
  • Curriculum mapping and training program design.
  • ADDIE instructional design methodology.
  • Technical training development for classroom, trades, or operational environments.
  • Project planning, scheduling, and project management.
  • Stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Quality assurance (QA) reviews of training materials.
  • Mentoring and coaching instructional designers.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with Articulate Storyline.
  • Video production and web design experience.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously. Preferred Skills
  • Utility industry, power generation, hydro operations, or skilled trades experience.
  • Apprenticeship program development.
  • Experience evaluating and integrating off-the-shelf training content.
  • Familiarity with Questionmark, Author-It, Microsoft Teams, and virtual learning platforms.
  • Experience using AI tools to improve instructional design efficiency.
  • Training effectiveness measurement and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Budget estimation and project cost management.
  • Train-the-Trainer program development and facilitation. Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct training needs assessments and front-end analyses to identify learning requirements.
  • Design and develop technical training programs and blended learning solutions for Hydro Operations.
  • Create curriculum maps, learning paths, and assessment strategies.
  • Partner with SMEs to evaluate and incorporate third-party training content.
  • Collaborate with Senior Learning Strategists and Instructional Designers on training initiatives.
  • Coach and mentor instructional designers on instructional design best practices and ADDIE methodology.
  • Lead quality assurance reviews to ensure training standards and compliance requirements are met.
  • Develop project schedules, estimates, and resource plans.
  • Manage project execution, timelines, budgets, and deliverables.
  • Facilitate project meetings including Kickoffs, Beta Reviews, Train-the-Trainer sessions, and Pilot programs.
  • Track project progress and communicate status updates to stakeholders.
  • Analyze training effectiveness data and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Recommend learning technologies and innovative training solutions.
  • Archive project documentation and complete project closeout activities.
  • Support travel requirements across PG&E locations and hydro operation sites as needed.
