Senior Technical Instructional Designer | eLearning & Training Development

Job Description

Required Experience, Knowledge & Skills:
  • 4+ years of experience developing instructor-led, eLearning, or virtual training in a technical environment
  • Comfortable and capable working on a high performing team
  • Experience with technical writing
  • Strong knowledge of adult learning theory and instructional design methodologies and technologies
  • Proficiency with Storyline required
  • Very strong Task Analysis knowledge and capability
  • Strong knowledge of PowerPoint and Word
  • Flexibility to work on simultaneous development efforts, as needed
Preferred Experience, Knowledge & Skills:
  • Safety knowledge strongly desired
  • Knowledge of QuestionMark and Author-it
  • Experience developing training for the utility industry
Job Overview:
  • Partner with SID and SMEs to conceptualize training design and content
  • Define learning objectives, course structure, learning content, and assessments
  • Complete detailed analysis of existing content and each task to be trained/supported for target audience, business process, and systems
  • Follow company standards, guidelines, and templates to develop learning materials, including course PPT presentations, WBTs, student and facilitator course guides, activities, scenarios, and assessments
  • Create instructional graphics, scenarios, and interactions
  • Write clear and effective instruction and facilitator text appropriate for the target audience
  • Conduct in-person and virtual meetings with subject matter experts, including working sessions, task analysis, alpha, beta, and answer validation meetings
  • Northern California/San Francisco Bay Area with travel to San Ramon monthly plus additional meetings in San Ramon or Livermore, as needed
  • Engage with subject matter experts for ongoing content review and validation
  • Receive and incorporate feedback
  • Self-manage assigned tasks and deadlines to complete deliverables
  • Proactively communicate issues and risks
