Salary Range:
$75,000-$100,000 The mission of Oaks Christian School is to dedicate ourselves to Christ in pursuit of academic excellence, artistic expression, and athletic distinction while growing in knowledge and wisdom through God's abundant grace. Oaks Christian School is looking for a strong Christ-follower who senses a calling to serve as our Learning Specialist with a special emphasis within our High School. The Learning Specialist supports high school students with learning strategies; provides individual instruction as appropriate; serves as a resource for faculty; and serves as a resource for the greater Oaks Christian community. The High School Learning Specialist reports to the Lead Learning Specialist and works with faculty and administration to provide academic support and instructional strategies to ensure a successful educational environment for all students. The Learning Specialist enjoys the support and benefits of working with an experienced, talented, passionate staff who are dedicated to Christ while growing in knowledge and wisdom through God's abundant grace.
Primary responsibilities include:
Counsel families on learning support and assessment accommodations. Organize and oversee student accommodations and needs, to include standardized testing support. Work directly with students on topics such as study skills, executive functioning, and self-advocacy skills. Support the admissions and enrollment process as related to students with learning differences as appropriate. Act as a liaison with private testing agencies and local school districts as appropriate. Collaborate with teachers, administrators, outside professionals, and parents to improve academic growth and success for all students. Assume an active role in Student Support Meetings. Perform other duties as determined by the Lead Learning Specialist. Minimum Qualifications Master's degree in school psychology, school counseling, educational psychology, special education or related field. At least four years of experience as a learning specialist or in a related role. Independent school experience preferred. Familiarity with legal responsibilities of independent schools related to IEP and 504 plans. Ability to collaborate with faculty, staff, administration, and parents. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, verbally and in writing. Positive attitude, flexible approach, and a sense of humor.
