STEM Enrichment Specialist

POSITION SUMMARY

The STEM Intervention Specialist possesses a strong understanding of the interplay between curriculum, instruction, and assessment across K-12 and the ability to design professional learning that builds the capacity of others' knowledge and understanding. This role serves as a content expert who assists with the coordination, planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of curricula, assessments, and instructional practices to ensure all Hartford Public Schools' students have equitable access to robust academic experiences. This position collaborates closely with teachers, administrators, and other instructional staff.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design, assess, and revise curricular frameworks, units, and lesson plans that reflect best practices,curriculum standards, and the needs of diverse learners
• Integrate technology, social-emotional learning, and lifelong learner skills into curriculum design toprepare students for academic success
• Contribute to strategy development for the implementation of instructional programming
• Apply content expertise to continuous improvement efforts in schools and at the central office
• Create professional learning plans that are designed to build teacher capacity through the lens of effectiveinstructional practices, data analysis and action planning, and culturally responsive instructionalmethodologies Provide training and support to teachers and instructional leaders on curriculumimplementation, instructional strategies, and assessment practices
• Monitor implementation of curriculum and instructional practices through scheduled classroom visits,peer coaching, and data analysis
• Engage in vertical articulation of curriculum goals and objectives
• Provide peer leadership and support in the implementation of standards-based grading as it relates tocurriculum development
• Build strong working relationships for the purpose of executing plans for continuous improvement acrossschools and departments
• Collaborate with educators, administrators, and community partners to ensure that the curriculum alignswith standards, promotes diversity and inclusivity, and fosters academic excellence
• Contribute to a culture of continuous learning and reflective practice among collaborators to improveteaching effectiveness and student achievement
• Stay current on research and analysis of curriculum trends, best practices in curriculum development,instructional pedagogy, social-emotional learning, and educational technology tailored to meet the needsof diverse learners
• Stay current on national and state curriculum/instruction initiatives, regulations, and requirements
• Assist in the selection, ordering, and inventorying of appropriate instructional materials, classroom tools,and assessment tools aligned to NGSS.
• Manage the tasks specific to the assignment as provided by immediate supervisors

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS/ABILITIES OF IDEAL CANDIDATE

• Master's degree in education and a minimum of five (5) years of successful teaching experience
• Knowledge of Connecticut Core Standards for appropriate grade levels and content area(s)
• In-depth knowledge Of curriculum standards, educational theories, and pedagogical practices relevant to urban education
• Demonstrated knowledge of best practices related to the integration of technology, curriculum implementation, and creating positive classroom environments
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make data-driven decisions to improve student outcomes
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and work effectively with others
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders including students, families, teachers, administrators, and industry partners
• Demonstrated ability to facilitate professional learning and execute plans for continuous improvement
• Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Experience working with culturally, socially, and economically diverse student and family populations

CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Connecticut 047 certification required to teach Engineering.
