This position will serve as the primary diabetes educator at Golisano Children's Hospital, and will work with the team to develop an inpatient pediatric diabetes education program. Responsibilities include staff education, supporting a diabetes nurse champion initiative, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, participating in monthly facility orientation, and serving as a diabetes education ambassador throughout the facility. Responsible for the development, implementation, and evaluation of the inpatient pediatric diabetes program under the direction of the Inpatient Diabetes Supervisor. Serves as a clinical expert and provides education and consultation services to internal and external groups. Collaborates with other disciplines to facilitate diabetes care across the continuum.
Requirements Education:
Associate degree required in health-related profession.
Experience:
Minimum of 2 years of pediatric experience required.
Certification:
CDCES (Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist) required or must obtain certification within 1 year of hire. National Registration as an RD (if dietitian).
License:
Current license as an RN in the State of Florida or Florida Licensed Dietitian/Nutritionist.
Other:
Must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Must be flexible.
