This includes maintaining and repairing instruments used in the lab courses and lectures, maintaining the instrument inventory, and checking instruments regularly for safety and security. Fiscal responsibility of the expenditure of funds for the demonstration equipment, including contacting suppliers and placing orders, ordering needed equipment components, and replacing parts. Consult with teaching faculty on the appropriate experiments that best show various physics and astrophysics principles. Instruct faculty members in the proper use of the equipment, and set up the various apparatus for classroom demonstrations. Maintain and improve the university's planetarium facility, including the computer, projector systems, and planetarium shows. Support the outreach program of the Physics Department, including the "Saturday Morning Physics" series, the bi-annual "Circus of Physics" open house, and the public planetarium shows and demonstrations with special emphasis on serving as the liaison between the Department and local K-12 schools. Establish and maintain channels of communication with the local K-12 schools so that they can more easily access the services of the planetarium. Instruct student assistants for the physics and astrophysics labs. Qualifications Academic master's degree or highest-level terminal degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate field of specialization or equivalent qualifications based on professional experience, and otherwise qualified to perform assigned duties. Preferred Qualifications Five or more years teaching Physics at the high school or college level is preferred.
