Jul 20, 2026 Job Description Overall Purpose To provide support to the instructional process by serving as a teacher with specific responsibility for developing special education students' success in academics interpersonal skills, and activities of daily living; supervising students within the classroom and other assigned areas. Develops lesson plans and delivers group and individual student instruction within established curriculum guidelines. Essential Functions Assists in the coordination of the exceptional education program for compliance with Individuals with Disabilities Act (IDEA). Conducts demonstration teaching sessions for teachers. Serves as liaison between the building administration and the central office for all decisions related to services for students with disabilities. Coordinates IEP meetings. Supports Special Olympic activities. Serves as case manager for students who receive consultation special education services. Requirements Valid Georgia professional certification in the assigned teaching field. Physical Requirements Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 20% sitting, 40% walking, and 40% standing. Education/Training Maintains all licenses and certifications.
