Position Summary The Education Specialist leads the Discovery Center of Idaho's educational programming, ensuring engaging, high-quality STEM experiences that inspire lifelong learning. This position oversees educational staff and volunteers, manages and delivers programs and partnerships to support the Center's mission and visibility.

Chief Operations Officer Key Responsibilities:

Educational Programs Plan, implement, and evaluate camps, field trips, homeschool programs, and special events. Ensure educational programs are engaging, consistent, and aligned with organizational goals and educational standards. Collaborate with Exhibits, Operations, and Marketing to integrate educational content throughout the Center. Leadership & Administration Supervise, mentor, and evaluate education staff, volunteers, interns, and seasonal instructors. Manage department budget, schedules, purchasing, and program resources. Assist supervisor with the development of department goals, policies, and performance measures. Maintain compliance with organizational policies and child safety standards. Community Engagement Build partnerships with schools, libraries, community organizations, and businesses. Represent the Discovery Center through outreach, presentations, and community events. Support grant writing, fundraising, and strategic initiatives.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Education, STEM, Museum Studies, or related field. Five years of experience in education, program management, museums, science centers, or nonprofit leadership. Experience supervising staff and volunteers. Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace. Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends and pass a background check.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in informal STEM education or museums. Grant writing experience. Knowledge of Idaho educational standards. Database experience (Altru preferred) First Aid/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).

Physical Requirements:
