West Ada School District Federal Programs - ML Consultant Purpose The primary purpose of this position is to provide leadership, support, and professional learning to Federal Programs and general education staff in serving Multilingual Learners (ML). The ML Consultant supports staff, students, families, and schools by promoting effective instructional practices, strengthening co-teaching models, and ensuring alignment with federal guidelines and district initiatives. This role includes coaching, professional development, program support, and collaboration to improve outcomes for ML students. Performance Responsibilities Support for Federal Programs, general education staff, students, and families includes orientation for new staff, ongoing consultation, and school-based support. The ML Consultant assists with the application and analysis of data to drive instructional improvement (MTSS), supports implementation of effective, high impact instructional strategies, and strengthens ML programming through coaching, co-planning, and professional development. The consultant works collaboratively across schools and departments to ensure equitable access and consistent implementation of ML services. Essential Duties Coach and support ML and general education teachers in effective co-teaching practices, including co-planning, co-instruction, and co-reflection Provide job-embedded coaching to strengthen instruction and improve outcomes for ML students Observe classrooms and provide timely, actionable, and supportive feedback Model and co-plan lessons that integrate language development with grade-level content Support schools (with and without co-teaching models) through targeted instructional guidance Assist teachers in implementing ML curriculum, materials, and standards-aligned strategies Promote instructional practices that develop speaking, listening, reading, writing, and critical thinking Design and deliver professional development and district learning opportunities related to ML instruction and co-teaching Train, mentor, and support new ML teachers Facilitate and support ML district PLCs and collaborative learning structures Contribute to district-wide instructional initiatives and develop resources to support ML instruction Monitor and analyze ML program data to inform instruction and evaluate program effectiveness Provide and support the use of the ML MTSS Comprehensive Packet in collaboration with school teams to guide decision-making Support school and district continuous improvement efforts Collaborate with the ML district team and partner with other departments to ensure alignment and equitable practices Support ML identification, intake, assessment (e.g., WIDA screeners, ACCESS), and compliance processes Assist with required documentation, including ELPs, progress monitoring (X1/X2), and reporting Support MTSS and special education processes for ML and dually identified students Promote family engagement, support ML events, and connect families to community resources Build strong collaborative relationships with staff and stakeholders Participate in school and district meetings, initiatives, and assigned projects Maintain current knowledge of ML best practices and instructional research Qualifications Valid state teacher's certificate A minimum of three years teaching experience is preferred Experience with ML students preferred Strong collaboration and coaching skills Effective communicator Strong organizational skills Essential Physical Abilities Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing or other communication capabilities, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to discern verbal conversation and to communicate effectively on the telephone and in person Sufficient visual acuity, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to comprehend written work and assessments, prepare and review documents, and organize documents and materials Sufficient manual dexterity, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to perform repetitive hand/wrist/arm motions and to operate a computer and office equipment, and to occasionally physically restrain a student to keep him/her from harming self or others Sufficient personal mobility, flexibility, and balance, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to work in an office environment, lifting or moving objects that weigh up to 20 lbs.
