PRIMARY FUNCTION
The Education Coordinator is responsible for implementing and managing a comprehensive educational enhancement program. Also, enhances and promotes home-school-Club linkages, partnerships and parent involvement opportunities.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Plan, organizes, implements and evaluates a comprehensive educational program that meets the needs of all youth 6-18 and strengthens literacy. Monitors and records outcomes as a result of member participation in educational programs. Trains volunteers and staff to run educational programs. Encourages members with 3.0 GPA or better to bring report cards, recruits and trains them to become tutors with the Club. Develops and implements theme based projects that promote learning. Recognizes members by displaying names, schools and GPA in Club newsletter and on bulletin boards. Organizes and implements National Boys & Girls Club educational programs. Builds partnerships with the area schools and meet with parents to further enhance the program and determine individual youth needs assessments. Recruits members for program participation. Maintains contact with teachers to determine educational needs and work assignments. Performs special assignments and assists with special projects as directed by the Program Director. Secures supplies and materials as necessary. Attends weekly staff meetings. Completes monthly and quarterly reports for the Program Director and documents activities Other duties as assigned.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED
Four-year degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent experience 2-3 years experience working with youth General knowledge of education and curriculum building Experience in planning and supervising activities based on the developmental needs of youth. Understand the duties and responsibility as mandated child abuse reporters. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Demonstrate Integrity and professionalism at all times. Demonstrated organizational, staff and project management abilities. Mandatory CPR and First Aid Certification within 90 days of hire
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
Ability to continuously stand, walk or sit. Ability to function for more than two hours on your feet. Ability to bend, squat, climb stairs and lift frequently. Will be working in a Club environment with children. Ability to be outdoors during all seasons occasionally. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
