SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Executive Director of Educational Access and Pathways manages the educational translation and interpretation services throughout the district. RESPONSIBILITIES
Coordinate all requests for translations and/or interpretations in the district Maintain list of and availability of educational translators and interpreters Manage schedule of educational interpreters for schools and family events Manage monthly reports and ensure timely submission of payroll Audit information in documents for accuracy Serves as emergency/substitute interpreter/translator when needed Ensure all district materials are available in multiple languages for online, print, or oral distribution Work with the schools and central office departments to ensure that all materials are translated prior to distribution Assess needs of district to develop plan for service as well as anticipated budget impact Monitor state and federal guidelines to ensure compliance Manage translation vendor services Performs related duties as needed Performs work as directed by Superintendent, Executive Director of Educational Access and Pathways or designee
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Translator/Interpreter Certificate preferred Multilingual preferred Minimum of 3 years' experience providing translation services in educational setting preferred Experience working with staff from diverse cultures Strong verbal communication skills The Superintendent of Schools reserves the right to waive a position qualification or determine that there is an acceptable alternative to that qualification
