Elementary Reading SpecialistANTICIPATED
The Reading Specialist is appointed on an annual basis and delegated by the Principal to perform instructional and administrative duties essential to the reading curriculum, instruction, and intervention in grades K-5.Supervisor:

Full Time = FTE 100% = 40 hours per week 10 Month ContractEssential Job Functions:
- Assess the reading strengths and needs of students by supporting the administration of the universal screener and analyzing the results.
- With the Literacy Curriculum Coordinator, share universal screener data with families and educational staff and use the results to support the planning and implementation of an effective intervention program for K-5 students.
- Work with teachers to examine data and monitor student progress, and assist teachers in the use of data to inform instruction (grouping, identifying students for supplemental instruction or intensive interventions, etc.).
- Collaborate with teachers, Principal, Literacy Curriculum Coordinator and the Director of Teaching and Learning to select students in need of reading intervention.
- Provide reading intervention to students who are struggling with reading using evidence based curricular materials.
- Complete necessary Title I paperwork as assigned by the Literacy Curriculum Coordinator.
- Communicate with families as needed and through the completion of midyear and final progress reports for assigned Title I reading students.
- Contribute to fall family Title I information sessions and other family meetings and events throughout the school year.
- Assist the Literacy Curriculum Coordinator with budget preparation for Title I and in the selection of K-5 reading curriculum materials
- Attend school related activities as needed.
- Perform such tasks and takes on additional responsibilities as may be directed by the Principal and Literacy Curriculum Coordinator to ensure a positive learning environment for all students and the smooth operation of the school.
