Immediately Job Description St. Theresa of the Child Jesus School is a joyful, diverse, and academically ambitious Catholic school community in Somerville, MA, serving students from Preschool through Grade 8. Rooted in nearly 100 years of faith-filled education, we invite a mission-driven leader who can bridge academic excellence and Catholic identity — bridging archdiocesan and state standards with classroom excellence, serving as a mentor to faculty, and a strategic operational leader. The Curriculum & Instruction Coordinator serves as the Principal's primary partner in stewarding the academic mission of St. Theresa School. This hands-on role requires equal parts vision and operational rigor: coaching teachers, managing curriculum resources, overseeing technology use, building schedules, and keeping students and the Catholic mission at the center of every decision.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Curriculum Architecture & Mission Stewardship
  • Ensure faith and reason are authentically integrated across all subjects, moving beyond religion class toward a holistic Catholic worldview; support faculty retreats and service learning opportunities
  • Oversee the scope and sequence of all academic disciplines (PreK-8), ensuring alignment with Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks, Archdiocesan standards, and a Catholic liberal arts tradition
  • Review and provide written feedback on teacher lesson plans weekly; conduct formal curriculum map reviews each trimester to ensure vertical alignment and cross-curricular connections
  • Review monthly report cards to ensure alignment with school objectives, grading consistency, and professional standards
  • Maintain and update the academic section of the school website (course offerings, curriculum overviews, academic calendar) Pedagogical Leadership & Faculty Development
  • Conduct 3-4 classroom observations per week; provide specific, growth-oriented written feedback to each teacher within 48 hours and share summaries with the Principal
  • Serve as instructional coach especially for new tecahers: provide individualized support through modeling, co-teaching, and post-observation debrief; focus on evidence-based literacy strategies
  • Participate actively in all Archdiocesan professional development opportunities and model Christian discipleship and servant-leadership in all interactions
  • Collaborate with the Student Support Team to monitor and implement academic remediation
  • Assisting teachers in building intentional and monitored technology use that serves educational rather than recreational purposes Title I Program Management
  • Serve as the school's Title I coordinator: manage all required surveys, documentation, and federal reporting deadlines; organize the annual Title I parent meeting
  • Coordinate Title I-funded services; identify eligible students in collaboration with the student support team; maintain records for Archdiocesan and DESE audits Scheduling, Grading & Academic Organization
  • Develop the master schedule in collaboration with the Principal, ensuring equitable access to all specials (art, music, gym, Spanish, library); send written reminders to specials teachers two weeks before each report card deadline
  • Harmonize grading scales, coefficients, and rubrics across all grade levels; review completed report cards before publication Teaching, Leadership & Community Engagement
  • Attend and contribute to weekly faculty meetings, school-wide events (Open Houses, Curriculum Night), and community celebrations
  • Serve as a primary resource for parents seeking to understand the school's academic vision and the value of a Catholic liberal arts education
  • Assist the Principal with academic compliance, Archdiocesan accreditation requirements, and faculty orientation
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL POSSESS
  • A strong commitment to the mission of St. Theresa School and the holistic formation of the human person; enthusiasm for Catholic liberal arts education; practicing Catholic preferred
  • A Master's degree in Education, Curriculum & Instruction, or a related field; minimum 4-5 years of successful teaching experience; experience as an instructional coach, department chair, or academic leader
  • Deep knowledge of Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks, NWEA MAP assessment, and evidence-based ELA instruction; proven track record of improving student outcomes
  • Proficiency in educational technology tools: Google Workspace, GoGuardian, TimeFrame, and FACTS RenWeb (preferred)
  • Exceptional organizational skills; ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously; strong written and verbal communication skills

COMPENSATION, REQUIREMENTS & HOW TO APPLY
