This role supports the development, revision, and alignment of literacy curricula to the Maryland College and Career-Ready Standards and the City Schools Instructional Models for Literacy. The Literacy Coordinator collaborates with internal teams, external partners, and vendors to identify high-quality instructional practices and resources, and designs professional learning experiences that strengthen literacy instruction and improve teaching and learning outcomes districtwide. Essential Functions Plans, coordinates, and supports the implementation of the Maryland College and Career-Ready Standards for Literacy across K-12 schools. Designs, delivers, and supports ongoing professional learning to promote research-based and effective literacy instructional practices. Analyzes and uses multiple sources of data to strategically support the instructional needs of teachers, schools, and administrators. Develops and provides guidance, resources, and technical assistance to school leaders and educators on best practices in literacy instruction. Coordinates the development, alignment, and implementation of literacy curriculum and assessments. Collaborates with offices and departments across the organization to ensure coherent and effective implementation of districtwide literacy initiatives. Works collaboratively with cross-functional teams to advance high-quality teaching and learning throughout the district. Ensures clear, consistent communication regarding literacy initiatives, expectations, and supports. Performs all duties in compliance with federal and state laws, school board policies, professional standards, and equal employment and nondiscrimination requirements. Maximum Salary 180471.00 Minimum Salary 101250.00 Desired Qualifications Master's degree in education or a related field from an accredited college or university. Maryland State Department of Education Advanced Professional Certificate with an Administrator I endorsement. Minimum of three years of classroom teaching experience in English Language Arts, preferably across both elementary and secondary grade levels. At least three years of experience designing, facilitating, and delivering professional learning for school-based educators. Extensive knowledge of the Maryland College and Career-Ready Standards and demonstrated experience developing literacy curriculum, assessments, and professional learning presentations. A comprehensive background in literacy instruction, including curriculum design and assessment development. Proven experience managing and leading large-scale, multi-stakeholder projects in a timely manner. Knowledge of current research and evidence-based best practices in K-12 literacy instruction. Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and collaborate with diverse teams. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency with a range of computer applications, including Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Learning Management Systems, reporting platforms, databases, and online professional learning tools. Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures affecting educators within Baltimore City Public Schools.
