Job Description

Classroom Teacher As a Classroom Teacher, you will have an opportunity to serve as a dynamic leader, effective educator, and inspirational and impactful influence within your classroom. You will be expected to deliver measurable results through high-quality and intentional instructional planning, curriculum design, and curriculum delivery to improve student outcomes and transform students' lives. Key Responsibilities Plan instruction using approved curriculum, high-impact instructional strategies, subject matter expertise, and up-to-date data to meet the needs of all students Establish expectations, routines, and procedures to provide a respectful, safe, positive, student-centered environment that maximizes learning opportunities Engage students using a variety of instructional strategies to meet individual learning goals Set ambitious goals; gather, analyze, and use data to measure progress and guide instruction Collaborate with colleagues and engage in professional growth Support Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives Demonstrate leadership, professionalism, and effective communication Reports to: School Principal Qualifications We seek educators who are passionate about improving student outcomes and creating high-performing learning environments. Candidates should demonstrate strong instructional practices, high expectations for students, and a commitment to inclusive education. Bachelor's degree or higher Valid Maine teaching certification or eligibility Subject matter expertise Knowledge of effective teaching practices Ability to design differentiated instruction Strong collaboration skills Evidence of positive student outcomes preferred National Board Certification is a plus Detailed Responsibilities Curriculum and Planning Develop standards-based lesson plans aligned with curriculum and student needs Use student data to guide planning and differentiation Plan for pacing, sequencing, and instructional transitions Adapt instruction based on ongoing assessment Integrate educational technology effectively Classroom Culture and Environment Maintain a safe, respectful, and inclusive classroom Foster trust, collaboration, and student engagement Encourage participation, inquiry, and critical thinking Use diverse communication methods to support learning Instructional Delivery Deliver differentiated, rigorous instruction Use varied teaching strategies and real-world applications Communicate clear learning objectives Assess and adjust instruction based on student understanding Data-Driven Instruction Use data to inform instructional decisions Set and monitor student learning goals Track progress and address achievement gaps Collaboration and Professional Growth Collaborate with colleagues across teams and departments Engage in continuous professional development Reflect on and improve instructional practices Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Promote inclusive and culturally responsive teaching practices Support a safe environment for all students Reflect on personal biases and support equity initiatives Leadership and Communication Serve as an instructional leader Model professionalism and ethical behavior Communicate effectively with students, families, and stakeholders Competencies Commitment to improving student outcomes Student-centered mindset Strong collaboration skills Adaptability and flexibility Effective communication Responsiveness and problem-solving Relationship-building skills Commitment to continuous learning
