Goodrich Area Schools Elementary Literacy Specialist & MTSS Lead Summary:

Goodrich Area Schools is seeking a dynamic Literacy Specialist and Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) Lead to drive student success through targeted intervention and system-wide leadership.

Key Qualifications:

Certification:

Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate; endorsement in elementary education required. Must meet Highly Qualified Teacher requirements under ESSA.

Education:

Master's Degree in Reading, Literacy, or related field preferred.

Expertise:

Deep knowledge of the science of reading, research-based intervention strategies, and Title I and Section 31a grant compliance.

Data Fluency:

Proven ability to analyze universal screeners, diagnostics, and progress monitoring data to inform instruction and intervention adjustments.

Leadership:

Experience facilitating MTSS/Child Study meetings and guiding staff through data-based problem-solving. Must serve as an instructional leader who is a self-directed, problem-solver. Instructional coaching experience preferred.

Collaboration:

Strong communication skills with a track record of collaborating with colleagues and partnering with families.

Responsibilities:

Drive Literacy Intervention Deliver intensive, evidence-based, small-group instruction focused on foundational reading, comprehension, and writing skills. Utilize district-adopted resources to align interventions with core classroom instruction. Ensure grant compliance and maintain accurate documentation for all programming. Stay current with research-based instructional practices, literacy interventions, and Michigan Academic Standards. Lead MTSS & Data Analysis Serve as the building MTSS Lead, coordinating the implementation of Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 supports. Lead and facilitate MTSS Collaboration and Child Study Team meetings, driving data discussions and action planning. Analyze universal screeners and diagnostic assessments to identify at-risk learners early. Monitor intervention fidelity and effectiveness, making real-time instructional adjustments based on progress monitoring data. Build Capacity & Culture Coach and support classroom teachers and paraprofessionals in evidence-based literacy practices, differentiation strategies, and intervention delivery. Assist in the identification of students needing additional support or special education evaluation, ensuring robust data trails are in place. Champion a student-centered, whole-child approach that fosters engagement, confidence, and growth. Contribute to a collaborative, problem-solving school culture focused on continuous improvement and student success.

Work Environment:

Work is performed at Oaktree Elementary School and may include other facilities of the district when necessary. There is limited exposure to physical risk.
