Pay Schedule Month Number of Hrs./Wk. 40 Position Information Position Information Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in instructional design, educational technology, curriculum development, or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience. A minimum of three (3) years of experience designing online courses or e-learning content in higher education. Demonstrated expertise in learning management systems, accessibility standards (such as WCAG), and instructional design principles. Proficiency in digital content creation tools and experience with project management. Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across departments. Candidates are welcome to submit a work sample that showcases their instructional design skills—this could include a link to a learning module, instructional video, screenshots of a course design, an interactive lesson, or other relevant materials that demonstrate content design, organization, or learner engagement. Desired Qualifications Master's degree in a related field, with extensive experience in online course development, including course assessments, multimedia integration, and faculty training in higher education. Knowledge of ADA standards and experience conducting quality reviews for accessibility. A record of implementing innovative e-learning solutions and familiarity with current and emerging instructional technologies. Experience in creating and delivering professional development workshops for faculty and staff. Ability to manage multiple complex projects and provide instructional design support for diverse academic disciplines. Position Details Position Purpose Collaborates with faculty and staff to design, develop, and implement high-quality online courses that enhance student learning across disciplines. This role supports curriculum development projects by coordinating course planning, scheduling, and delivery while ensuring all materials meet accessibility standards. The Senior Instructional Designer develops instructional content, including interactive media elements, and conducts quality reviews to maintain consistency, accessibility, and effectiveness. Additionally, this position leads faculty workshops on online teaching practices, consults on instructional technology, and stays current with trends in e-learning, accessibility, and pedagogy to introduce innovative practices into Oakland University's online programs.
