Depends on Qualifications Position Summary Northwestern Michigan College is seeking an Adjunct Welding Technology Instructor to teach welding courses within the Technical Academic Area. The instructor will prepare and deliver instruction, foster student learning, maintain academic records, assess student performance, and support the mission of the college. Courses may include classroom, laboratory, and technology-enhanced instruction using Moodle. Minimum Qualifications Required AWS Qualified Welder certification. One of the following education/experience combinations: Master's degree in Welding or Engineering field plus 2 years of experience. Bachelor's degree in Welding or Engineering field plus 2 years of related experience. Bachelor's degree plus 3 years of industry experience and 2 years of related experience. No degree plus 5 years of industry experience and 3 years of teaching experience. Preferred Bachelor's degree in Welding or a related technical field. Two or more years of industry involvement through committees, standards organizations, advocacy groups, or similar professional activities. Primary Responsibilities Instruction & Student Learning Teach assigned Welding Technology courses. Develop lesson plans, instructional materials, and learning activities. Deliver engaging classroom and laboratory instruction. Encourage active participation and student success. Assess student learning through exams, projects, and other evaluation methods. Maintain accurate attendance and academic records. Submit attendance, grade alerts, and final grades through college systems. Utilize Moodle and other instructional technologies. Student Support Meet with students individually or in groups. Provide guidance and academic support. Identify learning challenges and adapt instructional strategies accordingly. Curriculum & Professional Development Support departmental curriculum and program initiatives. Participate in professional development activities. Maintain current knowledge of welding technologies, industry practices, and instructional methods. Work Environment This position involves instruction in welding laboratories and industrial training environments. Physical Requirements Frequent standing and walking. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
