Aug 5, 2026 Job Description Position Summary Nah Tah Wahsh PSA is seeking a collaborative and experienced Instructional Coach to support teaching and learning in grades 6-12. The Instructional Coach will work closely with teachers and administrators to improve instructional practices, increase student achievement, and support the implementation of curriculum, assessment, and school-improvement initiatives. This is a non-evaluative, support-focused role designed to build teacher capacity and strengthen classroom instruction. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Instructional Support & Coaching Provide job-embedded coaching to teachers through modeling, co-teaching, observation, and feedback Support the implementation of research-based instructional strategies and best practices Assist teachers in planning rigorous, standards-aligned lessons and units that also reflect Indigenous perspectives and culturally relevant content Promote instructional practices that honor student voice, identity, and community connections Facilitate reflective practice and goal-setting with teaching staff Data & Assessment Support teachers in analyzing student data (M-STEP, NWEA MAP, classroom assessments) to inform instruction Assist in developing and monitoring instructional plans that address achievement gaps and promote equitable access to learning based on student performance data Promote effective use of formative and summative assessments that recognize multiple ways students demonstrate learning Professional Development Design and deliver professional learning aligned to school goals and staff needs, including culturally responsive teaching and Indigenous education Support new teachers through mentoring, onboarding, and ongoing guidance Collaborate with administration to align professional development with school improvement priorities Collaboration & Leadership Facilitate Professional Learning and grade/content team meetings Promote collaboration across departments and the tribal community to ensure instructional coherence and cultural relevance Support implementation of curriculum, initiatives, and grant-funded programs Program & School Support Assist with curriculum alignment and resource selection Support implementation of MTSS, PBIS, and other school-wide systems as applicable Maintain a visible presence in classrooms and throughout the school Perform other duties as assigned by the administration Qualifications Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate (Secondary preferred) Master's Degree in Education or related field preferred Minimum of 3-5 years of successful classroom teaching experience (middle/high school preferred) Demonstrated expertise in instructional strategies, curriculum, and assessment practices Strong interpersonal, communication, and facilitation skills Ability to build trust and maintain a non-evaluative, supportive coaching role Compensation & Benefits Salary commensurate with experience and aligned with Nah Tah Wahsh PSA compensation structure Comprehensive benefits package, including: Health and life insurance Michigan Public School Employees Retirement System (MPSERS) Optional short- and long-term disability insurance Application Process Interested candidates should submit: Letter of interest Resume Copy of a valid Michigan teaching certificate List of professional references Statement of Educational Philosophy, including your approach to supporting diverse learners & work with Native/Indigenous students and communities Submit application materials to: Dr. Matthew Johnson-Reeves, Superintendent Nah Tah Wahsh PSA / Hannahville Indian School 15750 Hannahville Road B-1 Wilson, MI 49896
