The Field Education Specialist serves as a liaison between the University and P-12 district partners. This position collaborates with educator preparation programs and P-12 districts to secure clinical field placements for all licensure programs. The Field Education Specialist educates licensure students on the placement process, coordinates P-12 district placements, and provides ongoing support to students and district partners throughout the field experience process. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Facilitates P-12 field clinical placements, including observation, practicum, and student teaching placements for all educator preparation students.
Consults and collaborates with educator preparation programs across the University to determine acceptable clinical field placements.
Supports the Educational Field Experience Director in organizing professional meetings for educator preparation students, University Supervisors, and P-12 partners.
Maintains detailed databases including information relating to clinical field placement locations, cooperating teacher information, and P-12 district information to promote varied experiences for licensure students.
Gathers information from educator preparation students across the University through the administration of the student teaching registration to assess clinical field placement.
Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in education. One (1) year of experience working in an educational setting or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Ability to work effectively and collaborate with others in a professional environment
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to exercise discretion, maintain confidentiality, and apply sound judgment when handling sensitive information
Experience with Tevera/Experiential Learning Cloud, SOAR, and MECCA
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree from an accredited college or university in education or a related field. Three (3) years of experience in a P-12 setting. About The University of Southern Mississippi
