PROGRAM MANAGER
SOCIAL STUDIES Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools- 3.
FUNCTIONAL PURPOSE
The position provides district-level leadership and support to coordinate the K-12 social studies programs. The Program Manager works with school-based administrators and teachers to support them in implementation and maintenance of high-quality programs with fidelity to research-based models. The Program Manager supports and/or works with Instructional Coaches to provide appropriate professional development for teachers and administrators and facilitates use of assessments and resources.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
? Facilitates curriculum development for social studies and provides instructional resources to teachers and administrators. ? Provides and supports staff development. ? Facilitates collaborative planning of lessons with teachers. ? Collaborates with content directors to ensure curriculum, pedagogy, and assessment alignment. ? Collaborates with Instructional Coaches to provide coaching, professional development, and general support to schools. ? Supports Instructional Coaches ? Promotes and markets as necessary (community presentations, marketing materials, magnet fairs, etc.) ? Assists with teacher recruitment as necessary. ? Other duties as assigned.REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
? Extensive knowledge of the Guiding Principles for Social Studies Education ? Knowledge of state standards and curriculum for multiple content areas ? Ability to gather and analyze information to effectively problem solve and develop solutions to meet schools' needs ? Ability to communicate well with diverse groups of stakeholders, including administrators and teachers ? Ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders, including administrators and teachers ? Ability to work with current technology ? Possess exceptional skills in oral and written communication including presentation skills ? Ability to analyze classroom curriculum, programs or activities and recommend appropriate improvements and/or solutionsEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
?Minimum:
Bachelor's Degree in related field and three years social studies teaching experience ?Desirable:
Master's Degree in related field and five years social studies teaching experienceCERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS
