Job Description
Position:
The Special Education Coordinator oversees the planning, implementation, and evaluation of special education programs and services. This role ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations while supporting students with disabilities, families, and staff to promote inclusive and effective learning environments.Essential Duties:
Oversees the implementation of Special Education services in accordance with the law and current New Hampshire rules. Ensure compliance with laws and regulations such as the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). Monitor and support the development and implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), maintain accurate records and documentation for audits and reporting, and supervise building compliance with NHSEIS. Provide guidance and support to special education teachers, paraprofessionals, and related service providers. Oversees referrals, evaluations, and placement processes for students with disabilities. Analyze student performance data to improve program effectiveness. Develop and implement strategies for continuous improvements. Supports staff, administration, students, and parents as the leader with expertise in providing quality education support for students with disabilities. Collaborates with the Director of Student Services in the development and implementation of extended school year programs. Participates in district leadership meetings. Reports to the Director of Student Services.Fiscal Management:
Support and provide oversight for the special education budget process at the Elementary level. Assists the Director of Student Services with developing the district's student services budget.Student Welfare:
Consistent with district guidelines, implements a comprehensive, effective, well-developed plan for student and personnel safety. Supports procedures connected with pupil attendance, registration, and transfers. Provides leadership and expertise in facilitating positive instructional outcomes for students.Administration of School Building:
Assist in staff evaluations. Serves as LEA for meetings and runs weekly staffing. Collaborates with the Principal and Assistant Principals for special education and general education needs. Supports Instructional Assistants in schedules with students and duty schedules.Community Relations:
Serves as liaison between families, schools, and external agencies. Facilitates IEP meetings and ensures parents participate. Provides resources and guidance to families regarding special education services.Qualifications:
A NH Certification in Special Education or related field, master's degree, a minimum of 5-years teaching experience, administrative certification preferred, demonstrated knowledge of curriculum development, technology integration, and school/operations programs, excellent interpersonal and communication skills.What We Offer:
