This position develops and facilitates educational programming, curriculum and community outreach that integrates the NHCC's mission with preK-12, family and lifelong learner experiences for the NHCC Education program under the direct supervision of the Education Program manager. Programs include hands on art, tours, school groups, adult and senior programs and more. This position collaborates with other NHCC staff and community partners to ensure interdisciplinary educational programs, curriculum and community outreach. How does it get done? 1. Develop, write, coordinate, and implement education programs, curriculum and interpretive materials that support the National Hispanic Cultural Center's Art Museum, Hispanic Foodways, and other program areas. 2. Facilitate creative, interactive, mission-aligned programs for visitors of all ages and backgrounds that encourage dialogue and hands-on learning. 3. Conduct and lead school tours in the National Hispanic Cultural Center's Art Museum and Torreon using inquiry-based, interactive pedagogy. 4.

Outreach:

Teach and coordinate programs around the state, online and at local schools and community events. 5. Assist with administrative tasks related to program calendars, attendance tracking, budgets, and supply management. 6. Work with the NHCC Volunteer Coordinator to ensure all volunteer needs are met for programming and tours. Provide feedback regarding volunteers to Volunteer Coordinator. Who are the customers? Ideal Candidate This position serves visitors of all ages in the National Hispanic Cultural Center's local community of Barelas, greater Albuquerque, the State of New Mexico, and National and International patrons in alignment with the mission of the National Hispanic Cultural Center by advancing, preserving, and promoting understanding of Hispanic arts, culture, and humanities. Minimum Qualification Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university and one (1) year of experience in teaching and working with lesson planning and curriculum design. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling five (5) years may substitute for the required education and experience. Employment Requirements Employment is subject to a pre-employment background investigation and is conditional pending results. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification as a condition of continued employment. Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Working Conditions This position requires standing, sitting, walking, and/or bending over for extended periods of time as well as the ability to lift 25-50lbs. Must be flexible to facilitate in a variety of locations and conditions. Strong communication skills via phone, email, and in-person on a frequent and ongoing basis required. Daily use of computer and telephone. Fine motor skills and tool use for preparing education materials and interactive exhibits. This includes cutting, folding, tracing, use of drill and screwdrivers and other art and craft tools.
