POSITION SUMMARY
The International Baccalaureate (IB) Coordinator is a teacher‐leadership position that is critical to the success of the IB Program. Under the general direction of the Head of School/Principal or principal's designee, the IB Coordinator is the pedagogical leader for the IB Program, with responsibility for the academic progress of students in the program. The IB Coordinator promotes International Baccalaureate learner attributes (i.e., learner profile) as a fully integrated expression of the Bishop Ludden-Grimes Jr. Sr. High School mission, educating students to realize their unique purpose as made in God's image ( imago Dei). The IB Coordinator ensures that participating teachers are qualified subject matter experts and trained to uphold IB learner attributes. The IB Coordinator develops and maintains the IB Program with fidelity to IB regulations and accreditation obligations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Coordinate IB‐related communications/public relations information; including presentations for current and perspective students/parent/guardians, administrators, teachers, and community outreach. Ensure that teachers, parents/guardians, and students understand the curriculum and assessment requirements of IB, including the Diploma Program. Facilitate the IB authorization and accreditation process; serve as lead in the development of the accreditation documents. Manage an internal calendar of IB-related dates, submission deadlines, and assessments. Facilitate IB accreditation site visits, serve as liaison with IB Office and Consultancy. Chair the Bishop Ludden-Grimes IB Steering Committee including IB-trained administration, teachers, and guidance staff. Collaborate with the IB Steering Committee to develop site specific policies and procedures governing the IB Program. Share in teacher hiring and load assignments relevant to IB, upholding subject matter competence, training, and accreditation compliance. Facilitate development activities for teachers, administrators, and guidance, including IB training to ensure accreditation compliance. Facilitate ongoing IB teacher professional development and initial certification. Consult with district elementary schools and parents interested in developing a cohesive K-12 IB pathway-to-Diploma. Work closely with guidance to ensure IB-specific student preparation and class enrollment. Monitor IB enrollment, retention, and university placement in coordination with guidance, enrollment management, and alumni relations departments. Facilitate IB examination protocols, including test orders, fee waivers/reductions, test storage, testing locations/scheduling, proctoring, and student accommodations. Meet annually (early fall) with parents of IB Diploma candidates, presenting university application and placement opportunities. Supervise IB students to meet creativity, action, and service (CAS) requirements. Teach IB Core, Theory of Knowledge (TOK), and other IB courses if needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
Expertise in instruction, curriculum development, and consultation/coordination. K-12 leadership experience. Experience in group facilitation and professional development. Ability to collaborate with district and school site administrators. Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills. Exceptional organizational and time management skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Cultural responsiveness to learners from diverse backgrounds. Understanding 21st century instructional technologies. Experience monitoring and managing a budget.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Valid teaching credential in an IB core subject area. Minimum 5 years successful K-12 teaching experience. Earned Master's or Doctoral degree in curriculum/instruction, administration, or learning/cognition/development.
