Position Description:
In this unique position, the Educational Supports Coordinator will work to build relationships with Franklin County Children Services (FCCS), school personnel, foster parents, kinship providers, and FCCS caseworkers to support the academic success of youth and families involved with Franklin County Children Services. Educational Supports Coordinator will collaborate with its counterparts through the Educational Partnership for Social Emotional and Academics (EPSEA) partnership to ensure educational supports are provided throughout the agency.
Qualifications:
Required Master's degree. Master's degree in Education or Social Work recommended. Ten or more years of successful experience in an educational or child services setting required child protection casework, teaching, school leadership, counseling, or mentoring preferred. Excellent communication and documentation skills required. Experience working with foster youth or the child welfare system preferred. Understanding of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), House Bill (HB) 410, and a general understanding of educational practices and policies. Must possess excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to form positive, supportive relationships with school district personnel.
Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
Provide day to day educational consultation and support to Franklin County Children Services staff: Daily contact with FCCS and Managed Care Support staff and service teams through Microsoft Teams, Phone, and Email. Coordination/Submission of records request to school districts as it relates to obtaining educational information that would best inform agency decision-making. Provide education consultation to service teams regarding school processes: special education, HB 410, transportation services, as well as schools Multi-Tier System of Support (MTSS) and additional intervention supports. Serves as a referral/resource agent for caseworkers, parents, and others involved in the educational success of Franklin County youth. Acts as a liaison between school district, FCCS or provider staff and guardians. Maintains current knowledge of
EPSEA/ESC
(Educational Service Center) and FCCS expectations, policies, procedures, and guidelines. Completes documentation for general educational supports as well as support specifically related to
ESSA BID
(Best Interest Determination) decisions through established tracking sheet, SACWIS (Statewide Automated Child Welfare Information System), etc. Understands the importance of the whole student, both academically and social emotionally and provides appropriate supports. Tracks time and miles using Office 365 Calendar and Monthly Mileage log. Responsibilities specific to
ESSA/BID
federal requirements: Notification of district and school within ESSA parameter (one day). Leads collaboration with school on BID within ESSA parameter (within five school days of placement). If it is determined that the best interest of the child is to remain in the school of origin, will collaborate with school district to develop an implementation plan for transportation and funding within the ESSA parameter (within five school days from best interest being determined). Salary:
Commensurate with experience and in accordance with specified salary schedule 7.5 hour work day. 235day contract.
