Position:
Gifted Intervention Specialist The Licking Regional Educational Service Center is seeking a licensed Gifted Intervention Specialist to provide academic instruction and enrichment to gifted learners through co-teaching in grades K-5 within a gifted cluster classroom or pull-out model in the Newark City School District for the 2026-27 school year. Daily work includes co-planning and co-teaching differentiated lessons and working with instructional coaches to develop alternative assignments and projects for gifted learners. Critical thinking, action research service learning, real world problem-solving, independent studies, and Creative Problem Solving will be emphasized in the lessons that are developed. The Gifted Intervention Specialist will receive ongoing support and professional development in teaching gifted learners from the Curriculum Department and the District's Gifted Coordinator. The ideal candidate will possess:
  • A valid teaching license with a supplemental gifted endorsement (or be willing to complete coursework to earn a supplemental gifted endorsement).
  • Ability to discern the social and emotional needs of each individual student.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to work independently.
  • Ability to establish rapport and work closely with students, staff and community.
  • Ability to cooperate with building and district administrators as well as district instructional coaches, to identify, develop and lead training to meet the needs of gifted students and staff working with the gifted cluster groups (Grades K-5).
  • A willingness to serve as a resource consultant to other staff in the district.
  • A willingness to be accessible to the K-5 Curriculum Director and Assistant Superintendent of Certificated/Licensed Personnel.
