Job Description

Intervention Specialist (K-12) The CinDay Academy | Dayton, Ohio Area Position Overview The Intervention Specialist at The CinDay Academy plays a critical role in supporting students with diverse learning needs within a highly collaborative, neuroscience-informed, and project-based learning environment. This position is designed for an educator who understands that while some students have identified learning differences through formal plans, all students learn differently—and effective instruction requires flexibility, creativity, and strong partnership with classroom teachers. As the school's primary Intervention Specialist, this role blends direct student support, collaboration, and systems coordination, ensuring that both students and teachers are equipped to thrive in an individualized learning environment. Core Responsibilities1. Special Education Leadership & Compliance Develop, write, and maintain Individualized Service Plans (ISPs) aligned to student needs and services provided at the school Collaborate with students' home districts regarding the development of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) by providing data, input, and recommendations Participate in IEP meetings led by the district, serving as a key contributor and advocate for student needs and family understanding Ensure adherence to applicable state and federal requirements within a chartered non-public school setting Maintain accurate, organized documentation of student progress, services, and service minutes Monitor student progress toward goals and adjust supports as needed Write and update Jon Peterson Scholarship-aligned goals Complete and share progress reports with families and relevant stakeholders 2. Student Support Services Coordination Collaborate with teachers and other specialists to support students' academic, behavioral, and executive functioning needs Facilitate regular student support discussions focused on individual student needs, progress monitoring, and instructional planning Serve as a central point of communication between teachers, specialists, and leadership regarding student support needs Coordinate services to ensure students receive aligned and effective support across settings Contribute to building systems that support collaboration, documentation, and service delivery Partner with staff to problem-solve and adjust supports based on student data and classroom performance 3. Push-In Support & Collaborative Teaching Provide push-in support within classrooms to help students access core instruction Collaborate with teachers to design and implement differentiated instruction Co-plan and co-teach within a project-based learning (PBL) framework Support implementation of accommodations, modifications, and flexible learning strategies 4. Student Support & Small Group Instruction Deliver targeted small group and individualized instruction aligned with student goals Use data-driven strategies to support academic growth, executive functioning, and skill development Help students build independence, confidence, and self-advocacy skills 5. Jon Peterson Scholarship Program Coordination Serve as the school's Jon Peterson Scholarship Coordinator Maintain documentation to ensure full scholarship compliance Track and verify service minutes to ensure alignment with each student's ISP and scholarship plan Collaborate with staff to collect accurate service data and ensure timely documentation Support alignment of scholarship goals with ISPs and district IEPs Ensure progress reporting reflects services provided and aligns with documented goals Build and manage systems for documentation, service tracking, and compliance Communicate with families regarding scholarship processes and requirements Communicate with state agencies as needed to ensure compliance and address questions 6. School-Wide Differentiation & Instructional Support Support a school-wide philosophy that learning is individualized, not one-size-fits-all Work alongside teachers to plan for diverse learning needs across classrooms Help design systems that allow all students to access curriculum at varying levels Provide coaching and guidance on differentiation, accommodations, and inclusive practices Participate in and contribute to ongoing professional development 7. Family Communication & Partnership Build strong, positive relationships with families Communicate regularly regarding student progress and support plans Serve as a trusted guide for families navigating learning differences Qualifications Valid Ohio Intervention Specialist License (K-12) Strong knowledge of special education law, compliance, and documentation Experience in collaborative, inclusive, or co-teaching environments preferred Experience with project-based learning (PBL) or willingness to learn Strong organizational, documentation, and time management skills Excellent communication and collaboration skills Preferred Attributes Deep belief that all students can learn and succeed with the right support Flexible, growth-oriented mindset suited for a non-traditional school environment Ability to build systems and support both students and staff Strong problem-solving skills and initiative Commitment to relationship-based, student-centered learning Why Join The CinDay Academy?
