To develop a sense of self-worth, black and brown children need to see themselves reflected in curricula and within the history of the La Crosse area. To develop a healthy multicultural community, it is essential ALL children see their diverse community as part of the legitimate history and ALL belong in the story.

Primary Documents use visual learning, Essential Questioning develops collaborative learning, & Project Based Learning provides activity. Most important, Rubric Assessment helps with absentee rates & the emotional/environmental age of students. Multiple opportunities to achieve assessed goals through-out a unit helps with a "bad day" or school absences. Use of rubrics reinforces the goal of education to empower students.
