Job Description
Instructional Designer St. Louis, MO (hybrid schedule) Job Description The Instructional Designer will develop engaging, innovative learning experiences in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. In this role, you collaborate closely with key stakeholders to design and deliver content that enhances the learning environment and aligns with business and learning objectives. You apply proven instructional design models, adult learning theories, and a variety of delivery modalities while remaining curious about new learning trends and technologies. You serve as a skilled communicator who can uncover customer needs and translate them into effective learning solutions, and you thrive in ambiguity, readily challenging the status quo. This position offers a hybrid work arrangement, with flexibility for remote work in some cases. Responsibilities Own all facets of learning development, including conducting needs assessments, designing and developing learning content, and ensuring successful delivery that aligns with business and learning objectives. Deliver high-quality learning solutions that support a blended learning approach across multiple modalities. Stay current with emerging learning theories and trends and help develop pragmatic strategies and continuous improvements to enhance the learning environment. Use a combination of knowledge, data, intuition, and adult learning theory to provide insight when developing learning assets. Serve as a Subject Matter Expert on new learning tools, techniques, and delivery modalities, and build awareness of these among stakeholders. Provide daily support for the Learning Management System, including ongoing maintenance and troubleshooting. Act as a change agent by embracing new ways of learning and staying current on learning technologies such as LMS platforms, content providers, and eLearning tools. Mentor others and provide guidance on instructional design techniques and best practices. Manage multiple projects simultaneously, work effectively under pressure, and adapt to rapidly changing deadlines and needs. Essential Skills Minimum of 3 years of instructional design experience, including experience with e-learning design methodologies. Strong knowledge of instructional design principles and learning and development methodologies. Familiarity with adult learning theories and proven models of instructional design. Proficiency with office productivity tools. Proficiency with learning management systems and related terminology. Experience designing content to learning industry standards such as SCORM and AICC. Skill in using learning development tools such as Articulate 360, Storyline, Rise, Captivate, and other content development tools. Additional Skills & Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Adult Learning, Instructional Design, or a related field preferred. Experience providing daily support and maintenance for a Learning Management System. Experience acting as a Subject Matter Expert for learning tools, techniques, and delivery modalities. Demonstrated success in applying blended learning strategies across different delivery formats. Work Environment The role operates in a dynamic, fast-paced environment that values innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement in learning. The position is structured as hybrid, with a strong preference for candidates who can work near key office hubs, while highly qualified candidates may work fully remote with periodic travel for onsite collaboration. You work primarily with digital tools, including office productivity software, learning management systems, and eLearning development platforms such as Articulate 360, Storyline, Rise, Captivate, and other content creation tools. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of St. Louis, MO. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
