Job Description
Qualifications:
BCBA, Special Education or Related Service Provider Licensure Required
Strong knowledge and training in supporting students with behavioral challenges
Ability to coach district staff to best meet the needs of students with behavioral challenges
Demonstrates strong oral and written communication skills
Demonstrates in depth knowledge of Federal and State Special Education regulations and legal issues in Special Education
Demonstrates in depth knowledge of IEP writing
Demonstrates in depth knowledge of Clover School District Special Education Processes and Procedures
Demonstrates leadership in Special Education curriculum and instructional practices with a focus on behavior

General Responsibilities:
The Lead Behavior Specialist fulfills duties consistent with school district policy and serves within the
Special Education Department.
This is an itinerant position that provides services to all schools within the
District.
This position is to assess behavioral and learning problems related to inappropriate behavior;
train teachers, parents, and paraprofessionals in behavioral assessment, behavioral planning, and
behavior interventions and documentation; help classroom teachers assess students' current levels of
performance and ensure a continued focus on academic progress; serve as a consultant to
administrators, psychologists, and teachers; maintain detailed data to share with all stakeholders on a
regular basis; organize and schedule time commitments to meet demands of the job.
The lead behavior
specialist will collaborate in the evaluation and support of high-quality district special education programs.
Performance Responsibilities:
Support school based teams who have students who are struggling behaviorally
Stay connected to SC initiatives and BASC
Assist District staff with conducting functional behavioral assessments for individual students.
Create and assist District staff with the development and implementation of behavior plans, and appropriate programs for students with disabilities that present behavior/learning challenges
Implement, and assist District Staff with data collection. Review and modify interventions according to data.
Confer with members of the IEP team, District staff and other related team members, individually, at an IEP meeting, or in conference, to exchange, discuss, and evaluate student information for planning, modifying, and coordinating educational programs.
Work with and assist staff to meet the needs of students who exhibit inappropriate behaviors.
Provide professional learning and conduct functional analysis assessments of behavior for students with complex and/or severe behaviors in accordance with both Federal and State laws and regulations
Provides training to teachers, paraprofessionals, and parents in appropriate assessment, development, and execution of positive behavioral intervention plans.
Provides training in the data collection and documentation of various behavioral interventions.?
Attends professional development opportunities to maintain a high level of skill and knowledge of current research and practices.
Performs other such duties and assumes other such responsibilities as may be assigned by the
Executive Director of Special Services
Terms of Employment:
190 days per year. Salary & Benefits per contract.
