  • $87,391 per year, USCA Distance Learning The Director of Online Learning & Support (OLS) will oversee and work with the staff of the OLS Office on the development and support of online programs, courses, and students.
The Director will be responsible for helping faculty design and develop courses for online and blended learning, and students succeed in online courses. Working in concert with the Center for Teaching Excellence, the director will also be responsible for leading the university's professional development for online learning by incorporating best practices in instruction and instructional design. The position will report to the Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and advise the senior administration of best practices in online strategies. The Director will coordinate and contribute significantly to the review of existing online courses and serve as the chief LMS contact for the university.
Minimum requirements:
Bachelor's degree in a job related field and 3 or more years of job related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job related certification, training, education, and/or experience.
Preferred:
Supervisory experience preferred.

Skilled with graphic and multimedia authoring software and website design software. Ability to work with users from a wide-range of technological experience. Must be able to work in both Mac and PC environments. Ability to work closely and effectively with university faculty to design high quality online and blended courses. This will require excellent oral and written communication skills, problem solving skills and interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders to ensure a high degree of understanding and transparency of the online course design and development process. Knowledge and application of learning theories and current educational technologies used in online and blended course design. Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks and work independently. Must have a creative and innovative approach to learning design. Service orientation toward students and faculty. Experience working with course management systems. Knowledge of best practices for making learning accessible to all students including those with disabilities. Job Duties Job Duty Support the development and delivery of courses and programs across online, hybrid, and technology-enhanced instructional environments. Provide training and support that enables faculty to create high-quality learning experiences and effectively integrate instructional technologies into their teaching. Coordinate and contribute significantly to the review and continuous improvement of courses that include digital learning components. Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 35 Job Duty Manage and oversee staff in the Office of Online Learning & Support, including meeting with staff on a regular basis, assigning course development tasks, and assessing/evaluating staff. Identify pedagogical approaches, technologies, suites of technologies, or technological solutions that can be leveraged across part or all of the University. Collaborate closely with staff of the Center of Teaching Excellence, the Technology Services Division, and the Gregg-Graniteville Library as appropriate. Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 15 Job Duty Manage the Online Learning & Support website for faculty and student support. Ensure compliance with instructional design, copyright and intellectual property, quality assurance, and ADA standards in the development of web-enhanced, hybrid, and fully online engagement in meaningful learning. Remain current with research and trends in learning science, learning design practice, and learning technologies. Perform other related duties as assigned.
