Special Education Aledo ISD is seeking a full time Special Education Transition Specialist for the 2026-2027 school year. Please see the full Job description attached.
Compensation Info:
Teacher Pay Scale, 197 days
Primary Purpose:
To facilitate the implementation of transition and employment services for students with disabilities ages 14 to 21, ensuring that coordinated outcomes are appropriately planned. This includes assisting teachers in conducting transition assessments and fostering relationships with students, families, agencies, and school staff to develop and monitor individualized goals that support successful preparation for post-secondary education, employment, and independent living. The role also involves providing information and resources about effective transition planning, services, and inter-agency coordination to ensure collaboration between local school staff, students with disabilities, and their parents—and, where appropriate, local and regional personnel from agencies such as the Health and Human Services Commission, Department of Aging and Disability Services, Department of Assistive and Rehabilitative Services, and the Department of State Health Services. In addition, the Transition Specialist supports 18+ and transition-specific services that enhance student outcomes and promote independence.
Education/Certification:
Bachelor's Degree with teaching certificate in Special Education Master's Degree preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) Committee process and Individualized Education Program (IEP) goal setting process and implementation Knowledge of current educational trends, methods, research, and technology in relation to transition services Knowledge of evidence-based practices related to transition planning Utilize strong communication and interpersonal skills Possess a broad knowledge regarding curriculum content and teaching strategies at multiple levels of instruction Possess knowledge in the area of Transition as it relates to Indicator 13 and Indicator 14 Exhibit a proficiency in computer usage and instructional technology Ability to exercise excellent judgment in decision-making Ability to gather, interpret, and use data Ability to meet deadlines under pressure
Minimum Experience:
