April Primary Purpose:
Provide job-embedded instructional coaching for educators and districtwide leadership, curriculum guidance, and professional development as well as facilitate the school and community outreach and animal care for the district early learning academy programs that will increase the quality instruction and support the success early learning in accordance with the early education allotment funds to improve student outcomes and ensure alignment with TEKS.
Qualifications:
EducationCertification:
  • Bachelor's degree in education or related field (Master's preferred)
  • Valid Texas Teaching Certificate
  • ESL andor Reading Specialist certification preferred Special knowledge
Skills:
  • Knowledge Content
  • Area Best Practices
  • ELA, Math, Science, andor Social Studies
  • Knowledge Science Teaching Reading (STR), TEKS, and literacy best practices preferred
  • Knowledge or an understanding Agricultural Education for early learners
  • Experience in curriculum development and instructional design
  • Strong facilitation and coaching skills
  • Ability to analyze data and use it to improve instruction
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Proficiency with technology tools for learning and collaboration
  • Self
  • starter who can work both independently and collaboratively with others
  • Ability to prepare and present training
Experience:
Minimum three years successful teaching experience Two years campus instructional specialist experience preferred
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Early Education Instructional LeadershipCohort Leader:
. Meet TEA training requirements to serve as a Texas Reading Academy Comprehensive Cohort leader. . Pass the Reading Academy Cohort Leader screener. . Facilitate the Reading Academy sessions. . Provide coaching for cohort participants. . Evaluate Reading Academy artifacts and provide feedback to participants. Routinely communicates and checks
  • in with Reading Academy Authorized Provider.
. Attend mandatory training as required by TEA. . Communicate and demonstrate knowledge the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills, the English Language Arts curriculum, and research-based instructional strategies. . Maintain accurate account teacher records regarding their progress toward the completion the Reading Academy.

Communicate regularly and consistently with teachers regarding learning and progress toward the completion the Reading Academy. . Work collaboratively and collegially with other cohort leaders, instructional coaches, and district instructional specialists. . Guide teachers effectively using curriculum materials, including state-adopted resources. . Support implementation state-mandated initiatives, including HB Reading Academies, STAAR redesign, and STR requirements. . Regularly communicate with teachers and administrators regarding Reading Academy, curriculum updates, and instructional support. . Design and facilitate professional learning communities (PLCs) and job-embedded PD sessions as determined. . Support campus instructional coaches and teacher leaders in implementing model lessons and instructional strategies. . Develop and maintain a confidential, collegial relationship with teachers. . Provide andor assist teachers in creating materials that are aligned with curriculum. . Assist in planning, implementing, and evaluating instructional programs. . Demonstrate and model exemplary instructional practices. . Provide personalized, : support based on the goals and identified needs individual teachers. . Function as a positive collaborative member the team. . Support teachers, through the coaching model, with regard to assigned content, instructional methodology, materials and changes needed for improvement. . Assist teachers in obtaining a deep knowledge and experience with assessment driven instruction. . Meet regularly with teachers in planning and developing appropriate instructional strategies. . Help identify and connect teachers to appropriate PD opportunities to meet priority needs. . Monitors teachers' efficacy in applying new skills and impact on student learning, adjusts approach as necessary to achieve goals for teacher improvement and student achievement. . Design and deliver quality professional development, including researched-based instructional practices, for teachers and administrators at the campus andor district level.
Program Evaluation & Compliance:
. Assist with evaluating the effectiveness programs and practices. . Maintenance accurate records all activities. . Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations related to readinglanguage arts instruction. . Take initiative to develop professional skills appropriate to job assignment. Other Duties as Appropriate to Reading Academy Cohort requirements:
Early Education School and Community Outreach:
. Coordinate student hands on experiences with plants and with animals. . Facilitate the "live" animal program component that is incorporated into the educational program at the early learning academies. . Work with teachers and principals to infuse environmental education into all subjects. . Coordinate activities with professional agencies (Wetland's center, Extension Agent, Game Wardens, etc.) to coordinate guest speakers. . Facilitate marketing and communication by providing program information for monthly newsletter, press releases, andor presenting at conferences. . Responsible for taking photos, collecting stories, and collaborating with district public relations employees (social media) . Engages family and community by promoting shared responsibility for student learning and support the educational system. . Perform other duties as assigned to support student learning and district instructional goals.
