Primary Purpose:
The Instructional Support Specialist provides targeted push-in support for elementary teachers in math and reading, focusing on personalized instruction for students. This role enhances teacher capacity by modeling effective instructional strategies, conducting student assessments to inform instruction, and collaborating with campus staff to improve student achievement in foundational skills.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university Master's degree preferred, with Reading Specialist certification or advanced coursework in literacy or mathematics Minimum of 3 years of classroom teaching experience
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Student & Teacher Support:
Provide push-in instructional support for teachers, modeling research-based literacy and math strategies. Deliver targeted interventions within the classroom, ensuring seamless integration with core instruction. Conduct formal and informal assessments to diagnose student strengths and areas for growth. Support teachers in implementing Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions aligned with district instructional frameworks. Use assessment data to guide instructional decisions and support differentiated instruction.
Data & Communication:
Maintain accurate documentation of student progress and intervention effectiveness. Communicate assessment results and instructional progress as needed.
Professional Growth & Leadership:
Stay current with research-based instructional practices in early literacy and numeracy. Engage in professional development to strengthen coaching and instructional skills. Serve as a resource for best practices in intervention and differentiated instruction.
Additional Responsibilities:
Foster positive relationships with students, staff, and families to support a culture of learning. Uphold district policies and procedures to ensure a safe and productive learning environment. This role is designed to elevate instructional quality and student outcomes by providing embedded, real-time support to teachers and students.
