Primary Purpose:
The Bilingual/English as a Second Language (ESL) Instructional Specialist assists the district in the implementation and administration of K-12 Bilingual/ESL programming. This position is responsible for developing curriculum and instructional resources, serving as district lead for Language Proficiency Assessment Committees (LPAC), guiding the implementation of dual language and ESL programming, providing instructional coaching, and designing and delivering professional development to ensure strong learner achievement. This position must work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community and serve as a resource for all program staff.

Education /
Certification:
Bachelor's degree (Masters in progress or completed preferred)
Valid Teaching Certificate
Bilingual Certification
Special Knowledge /
Skills:
Thorough knowledge of curriculum and instruction
Knowledge of teacher and leadership development
Ability to evaluate instructional programs and teaching effectiveness
Ability to identify needed training and coordinate staff development
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Knowledge of Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS), English Language Proficiency Standards (ELPS), and best practices for dual language bilingual programming
Bilingual
Experience (Preferred):
A minimum of three (3) years successful Bilingual/ESL work experience
