PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The Academic Trainer, under the supervision of the campus Principal, works collaboratively with campus staff to coordinate, support, and implement the campus and district instructional program initiatives. This position also collaborates with the District C&I Department to provide coordination to the campus by ensuring sound curriculum development, vertical alignment, and staff development in order to improve overall student academic performance.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Certification Requirements BA or BS in Education required Valid Teaching Certification Master's degree preferred Special Knowledge and Skills Ability to organize campus-wide instructional programs Expertise in data analysis to improve student achievement Knowledge of curriculum alignment and standards- based instruction; current instructional and assessment research; and instructional technology integration. Excellent organizational, interpersonal skills, and ability to work collaboratively Ability to communicate effectively with administrators and teachers In-depth knowledge of standardized tests, including
STAAR, TELPAS, SAT
Ability to assess and modify an effective instructional program Ability to allocate resources efficiently and effectively Ability to implement a complete instructional coaching cycle with teachers Experience Minimum of 5 years teaching experience. Experience with planning and implementing effective staff development and instructional coaching
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

Provides instructional coaching to all teachers of at-risk students on high yield practices Collaborates with campus teachers to support instructional practices that improve academic success for at-risk students Works with teachers and administrators to implement effective interventions for at-risk students Provides demo lessons and co-teaches on the effective use of best practices for teaching and learning with at-risk students Observes teachers and provides timely feedback to improve the quality of instruction Frequently plans with campus administrators, grade level teams, and Department Chairs to improve instruction for struggling students Collaborates with District C&I Team and campus instructional staff to align vertically and horizontally the curriculum and instructional practices with focus on interventions to ensure every student grows at least one school year Collects and disaggregates multiple data sources and uses a variety of information to support classroom teachers with the growth and development of individual students Keeps current with effective instructional strategies through professional development and reading recent literature on reading and math interventions Attends campus administrative team meetings, district required professional development and campus department meetings related to at-risk students Attends conferences and workshops directly related to improving at-risk students' academic performance Promotes positive relations by communicating effectively with staff, students, parents, and community by projecting a positive image that enhances the campus mission Identifies, compiles, maintains, and files appropriate at-risk student reports, records, and documents related to job activities Collaborates with campus staff and central office with curriculum and assessments documents Assists campus teams with at-risk program evaluation Assist in developing, implementing, and assessing the Campus Needs Assessment and Campus Improvement Plan Adheres to all District, State and Federal policies, including State Compensatory Education policies/guidelines Daily attendance and punctuality at work are essential functions of the job
